Roanoke Season 25 Preview
After registering 11 wins each of the past two seasons, Roanoke is looking to crack the 0.500 mark this season. It will be tough in the loaded ODAC, but coach billabercrom thinks 15 wins is a definite possibilty.
Positional Breakdown:
PG - SO Ernest Rudnick will again be the floor general. He only recorded 2.3 assists per game last season but that experience is expected to serve him well this season. He'll be backed up by SG Robert Johnson. PG recruit Fred McDonald is expected to redshirt but should move into the backup spot next season.
SG - After averaging 11.4 ppg over the past two seasons, expect SR SGChristopher Parikh to start at the 2 spot. He's a definite 3-pt threat and has a pretty good handle as well. He'll be backed up by SR SGPatrick Williams. Robert Johnson may also see a few minutes at the 2-spot if Parikh or Williams go down with injury.
SF - Losing Andrew Clark to graduation will hurt but SR Richard Handel looks to step into the SF spot and make some contributions. Don't look for him to score too much but rather be a utility guy to get garbage buckets and make the extra pass into the post. He'll be spelled by FR Randall Brown. Athletic and a good defender, Brown will make some contributions this season as he works on rounding out his game.
PF - After playing second fiddle to Frank Kovach and Thomas Sturges the past two season, JR Russell Steele is ready to step into the starring role. An excellent rebounder with good low post moves, he can also step out and knock down the open 15-footer when needed. He'll be backed up by SO Jerry Kline. Kline is a hard worker with good rebounding, shot blocking, and low post skills. He's a little lax on defense and will need to work harder on that end of the floor. FR Kermit "Froggy" Daniel will see spot minutes at the position as he works on improving his all-around game.
C - SR Jerry Barton will start again in the post. He has the most experience of the post players but tends to be a little lazy. If he falters, look for SO Donald Bacher to take his job. Bacher is a developing star and pulled down 4 rebounds per game while only averaging 12 minutes per contest.

Emory & Henry Season 24 Recruiting Summary
E & H continues to take the recruiting world by storm, signing more players who can not only walk and chew gum at the same time, but who are also dumb as rocks. Could this be the class that ends the program's string of seven consecutive losing seasons? Meet the new Wasps ...
PG - Steven "Sleepy" Brubaker (Hinesville, GA): All 5'9", 160 pounds of Mr. Brubaker have agreed to redshirt this season, which will give the perpetually exhausted guard a chance to get plenty of rest. Noted for his defense, the punitive point man will need to develop the rest of his game and hopefully will become a real contributor in 2-3 seasons.
SG - Alden "Jalen" Crose (Pottsville, AR): Reportedly a very, very distant cousin of the former Fab Fiver, Mr. Crose provides an infusion of speed, athleticism and felony convictions to the E & H backcourt. Our AD wasn't too fond of the signing, but if he can outrun the po-po, then he'll be a nice fit for our "40 Minutes of Unpleasantness" defense.
SF - Mark "Turn the Other" Cheek (Wilkesboro, NC): After clearing up some transcript problems (that'll happen when you're forced to repeat 4th grade twice), Mr. Cheek arrives on campus hoping to see some immediate PT at sf. He's blessed with the speed of a guard, the defense of a pylon and the smarts of a semi-functional illiterate. Sounds like a winning combination!

Hampden-Sydney Season 25 Recruiting/Anaylsis
Coach Wolfepack takes the reigns and attempts to bring some long overdue success to the program. Hampden comes into the season having only one 20 win season to their credit and only one NT birth. It all begins here with the newest class of recruits.
PG- Roger Coleman: Coleman is just one of a few key components that Coach Wolfe hopes to take the team to the next level. Accepting the RS for his first season. What Coleman lacks in stamina (60), he more than makes up for in WE (90). With a RS season to grow & learn the system, Coleman appears to have a bright future ahead at HS.
PF- John Dobbs: Coming to HS from Lake City, SC, Dobbs brings a pretty decent LP game with him (58reb, 39LP), not to mention a 77WE. With hopes of having an opportunity to start this season, Dobbs needs to contribute, as HS is very thin down low.
PF- Jonah Ladd: Bringing some much needed athleticism to the HS low post game, Ladd also sports a very nice 74WE, along with a respectable 44reb & 37LP. Also hoping to have an opportunity to start this season, Ladd looks to be a mainstay for years to come.
PF- Michael Carls: Carls comes to HS from Asheboro, NC, and brings with him a 31DE, 42LP & 36LP. His respectable 73WE should be a sign of his willingness & ability to assume a greater role in HS' road to the Conf Championship, and ultimately a long overdue NT appearance.

Eastern Mennonite Season 25 Recruiting / Analysis

PG- Jeffrey Elkins: Jeffrey is fighting to get time this season. We have offered him a redshirt, but he seems to think that he is ready now. He needs to improve his outside shooting and ball handling. The coaching staff thinks with a redshirt year that he could 1st team all-conference as a senior. Time will tell.

SG- Sidney Heard: Another player that could use a redshirt year, but Sidney will contribute this season at both SG and SF. The staff believes he has the stuff to be a star if he works hard for the next 4 years.

C- Joe Hubbard: Joe looks like a stud on paper. He is a great rebounder and has a decent post game. Due to our abundance of big men, he will not see much time this season. If Elkins continues to refuse to redshirt, Joe is a likely candidate. The coaching staff has taken note of his lack of effort in practice, so he may not be the best option for a redshirt.

Overall the staff is very pleased with this class of freshmen.
