So violence sells better than sex?

What color is the sky in your world?

Not what actually sells, but what you can sell on the street.

You could get a license to wrestle or box on city streets. Target shooting on the streets would be ok.

On the flip side try to open a club, that only adults can get into, where women take their tops off while men drink alcohol.

Try to open a theater, again that only allows adults, where women make out on stage naked.

So, in your opinion, passing legislation that would open the doors for "sex for hire" would be really compiicated, right?

You're so dumb.  Thanks for proving my point.

I don't really have to give a benefit for keeping it illegal.   It is illegal and I'm not lobbying for change.   But, if you insist........

We, as a people, frown on a lot of things involving sex.   Women who **** a lot of men are sluts.  Women who sell the poon are whores.  Sticking your dinky in another women while married is adultery.  Dudes who can't get laid are nerds.   Dudes who take it in the *** are fags.  Poking a 17 year old in NY makes you a pervert.    The list of taboo sex acts go on and on.   It's a subject that invokes a lot of controversy.  Changing a law that makes prostitution legal doesn't change our views.     Should we, as a people, have all these hang-ups?  Not for me to say.  But I do know that we have a lot bigger fish to fry.  This particular subject would push all of them to the back burner and put the focus on something that really isn't that important.  That's why I ask "What good does it do?"
My point in case you've forgotten during your ramblings.

I know passing legislation allowing sex for hire would be tough. I just think it is the right thing to do.

The real reason I am so 100% in favor of legalizing prostitution is that I think it is a special case. Some of the same arguments are used when we talk about legalizing drugs. There is a difference though.

This is kind of technical and I dont expect many people to look at this and suddenly jump on my bandwagon, but here goes.

The laws against drugs should make your city better. The people involved in the drug trade are for the most part bad people. There is often many weapons and violence tied to the drug trade. The people arressted in the trade are for the most part put in jail for a long time.

The laws against prostitution should have almost no impact on your city. The people who are prostitutes (in this case the low level dealer and product are one in the same) are usually not bad people. They are seldom armed. When caught they almost never go to jail.

We can argue that drugs are not worse than alcohol, but we have to admit that drugs are harmful Possesing them or selling them or using them are all illegal.

Sex is very popular. Almost all adults do it. The only problem is disease or pregnancy. This is the same problem irregardless of the illegal aspects.

The issue that prostitution harms woman can be valid. I dont accept it for the most part, but at least there is a vaild point there.

The issue becomes is a woman in more danger being a prostitute in an illegal fram or a legal one.

This is starting to ramble. I hope everyone undertands my point.

Just where do you pull the statistics from that lead you to believe **** like, "the people who are prostitutes are usually not bad people"?  Pretty Woman?

7/13/2011 10:10 PM
They are not violent criminals. They are not usually armed. They usually dont have any criminal backround except for prostitution.
7/14/2011 12:46 AM

Hehehe.  You're funny.  Let's just pretend I buy your entire "point".   Do you agree that legalizing prostitution would jump to the forefront of the political scene and maybe, just maybe, detract away from solving what most of us consider more pressing issues?

7/14/2011 8:48 AM
The fact that I believe we should do this in no way clouds my vision and makes me believe we are going to do this any time soon.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

The fight to legalize prostitution begins with people seeing the truth.

Considering the climate of the world over, oh, I don't know,  my lifetime, don't you think that clogging up Congress with this sort of legislature is frivilous?
7/14/2011 1:14 PM
I think anyone of any party ever that has said that we shouldnt do something in Congress so we can do more important stuff is scamming.

Congress has dozens of little groups that can only discuss things in its area. So either crime or labor can discuss this and 2 other groups can discuss the budget and "Global Warming".
7/14/2011 1:24 PM
Again, this becomes front page.  Everything else is pushed aside.   Silliness will prevail.   Just isn't worth it at this time.  Bigger fish to fry.
7/14/2011 1:26 PM
So it is too much of a distraction for 435 Congressmen to fix this.

Of course the thousands of law enforcement agents who have to carry this out on a day to day basis are not as important!
7/14/2011 2:30 PM
I think we have a few more problems than whether or not you can legally buy *****.   Sorry.   Let's take on the big things first.
7/14/2011 3:33 PM
So then lets stop keeping hundreds of police all across the nation tied up in sting operations. Lets free up court docket time. Lets free up the whole anti hooker operation all across America.

Then they can solve other problems.
