And I understand that you're posting those in context to BL saying the civil war wS mainly about slavery there was more to it but mainly, it had slavery at it's roots. The socio-economic and states rights aspects to it were rooted deeply in the slave trade. That he north had already surpassed the south in the industrial revolution ad had no real further need for slaves certainly plays a part. To say that the south felt they had zero say in presidential elections is certainly a part of the reasoning for the war. That's true of many states today as well.

To say that slavery wSnt the root problem of the civil war is disingenuous at best.

I'll add that the simplistic answer is "slavery".     It was about progress(the south wasn't making any), money(the south was seeing their money pile shrink) and power(the north was getting it).

Here, taint, I summarized it for you.

Slavery is what caused the South to secede from the Union.  Secession was what caused Lincoln to fight the war, to bring the Union back together.

If the South had seceded because they wanted the national favorite color to be red and not blue, Lincoln would have still fought the war for the exact same reason.

The war was about secession and keeping the Union together.  Why states seceded is a footnote.

LOL at dumb tec.

Tec's wife pulls up to their house. Tec is standing in front with the insurance adjuster. The roof is completely collapsed.

Tec's wife: "what the **** happened?"
Tec: "the roof collapsed."
TW: "how?"
Insurance adjuster: "well th--"
Tec: cutting off adjuster, "the support beams gave way, causing the roof to collapse."
TW: "what caused the support beams to give way?"
Tec: "doesn't matter. The support beams giving way is what caused the collapse."
IA: "there was also the issue of the elephant."
TW: "ELEPHANT?!?"
Tec: "just a footnote! Yeah, I was keeping a pet elephant on the roof, and yeah that's what caused the support beams to give way, but if the support beams hadn't given way, the roof never would have collapsed. If I had painted the roof blue and the support beams gave way, the roof also would have collapsed."
TW: to the adjuster, "would the beams have given way if he painted the roof blue?"
IA: stunned, "no. The elephant caused the roof to collapse."
Tec: "JUST A FOOOOOOOOTNOTE!!!!! DON'T YOU GET IT?!?!?!!!!!!!"

Poor, dumb BL.

Too stubborn to admit that he's wrong.

Too dumb to just STFU about it.

Stubborn and dumb is a bad combination.

Lol

Slavery was just a footnote. The South would have seceded if the country changed its favorite color. Lol.
