Ohtani can be both a pitcher and a hitter from the same season, Ruth cannot.

Ohtani can be both a pitcher and a hitter from the same season, Ruth cannot.

Why does that matter in DEAL? I get it in DEP since there can be lots of Ohtanis but here there will only be one anyway, so I don't think he should have to declare one or the other, at least not initially.

I appreciate your post Tulsa it actually was the main reason I picked Ohtani because I thought I could make that decision later depending on what I needed more a hitter or pitcher. That would have been a nice option late in the game was my thinking. And what is weird is I swear I was debating between Ohtani and Giambi to stay with my "G" named players. But its ok. I think I have already done enough damage with my player picking. Not doing a very good job. But I do love this draft. Draft on

You are right, declaring does not matter in DEAL. However, if the person that selected Ohtani later on wanted him as both a pitcher and a hitter (the exception allowed to the no clone rule), then it would require an additional pick and it have to be for the same season.

My own fault I should have checked the rules a little better. No big deal. I am fine with it
