STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS 2009-10 Topic

Speaking of invisible, the PP sucks tonight.

buff is +1 when the hawks scored 4 goals already.  he took some nice shots.  stole the puck from toews to lead the charge for the first jets goal.  haven't seen him have any sloppy plays yet, or take time off.

Like I said, he hasn't been bad...but the same way you criticized Toews last season when "his team needed him", I think Buff deserves the same criticism...after all, he's supposed to be one of their go-to guys isn't he?

Ugly goal for Emery on that last one btw.

Off Bolland's skate.  Not much you can do.

No excuse for him flopping like that is what I meant...his lateral movements were all over the place on the entire sequence.

he's a dman.  of course he should contribute... but as i stated a long time ago - if (at the time) ATL or any team has to depend on a dman to be their offense they are in BIG trouble.  Its Kane, Ladd, Wheeler, Antropov and Co that need to put up scoring.

edit - buff +2

So would Craw...

And stop making excuses for Buff moy...I can name ALOT of great dmen who can change the course of a game in many ways, and he's not one of them.

Big hit by Bickell...who's had a rougher night, the Sens or Tobi Enstrom?

hey, I'd take buff on the flyers anyday.  his $5 mil is better than Kimmo's $6+.  He's got a rocket shot and he can move the puck, not to mention his size.  Get buff on a team where he doesn't have to be "THE MAN" and he'd be fine.   Plenty of $5 mil DMen play on the second pairings... Seabs included.

edit - He also scored 11 goals and 16 points on the way to a stanley cup .... and any Vancouver or Flyers fan will tell you it was Buff that beat them.

We got 2 steals with Keith and Seabs.  The market for top-flight d-men exploded and we got two for less than plenty of worse players got.

Well, at least you admit that much. I would take him on my team any day as well, but as I've always said and been criticized for saying, I wouldn't have him on my team as a core player. He's a great supporting talent, no doubt.

You're right plenty of 5 mil. dollar dmen play on 2nd pairings, but I bet the rest of them play in every situation whereas Buff does not.

I also like him alot more as a 3.5-4 million dollar forward than I do as a 5 million dollar Dman.

not sure what you mean by every situation.  take this game for instance:

EV TOI 10:29 PP TOI 02:16 SH TOI 00:42 Total TOI 13:27

He leads all Jets in Total TOI.

I also think his $5 mil is a movable contract.  He has size, skaing, and a powerful shot (as well as he provides flexibility being able to convert form DMan to Forward as needed) ... that many teams will pay for.  I don't see his contract as a problem.  Its his role with the Jets that may be being mismanaged.
