You're right, I should avoid Trumpian superlatives. Let's change "shadiest" to "bigly shady."

Judge Andrew Napolitano said Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation has reached a "new tenor," which is not good news for President Donald Trump.

On "The Daily Briefing" on Thursday, Napolitano pointed to a New York Times report that Mueller is zeroing in on a June 2016 meeting between Trump campaign officials and a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower.

He explained that Mark Corallo, a former spokesman for Trump's legal team, is expected to interview with Mueller's team. Corallo reportedly will tell investigators that White House communications director Hope Hicks wanted to prevent the release of emails in which Donald Trump Jr. set up the Trump Tower meeting to get dirt on Hillary Clinton.

"If he says that credibly, he's going to paint out a case for a conspiracy to obstruct justice, a conspiracy to hide documents, knowing that the special counsel would be looking for them because they are relevant to the core of what he's looking at: any relationship between the Trump campaign and the Russian government," Napolitano said.

The report alleges Hicks said on a conference call last summer that the emails about the meeting "will never get out," prompting concern from Corallo that she could potentially seek to obstruct justice. A lawyer for Hicks has denied the account.

The judge said he "can't imagine" Corallo would have spoken directly to the Times about the meeting, but cautioned that the reporting - if accurate - is not a positive development for Trump.

"This is a new tenor to the investigation and not good for the president."

James Comey tweet:

All should appreciate the FBI speaking up. I wish more of our leaders would. But take heart: American history shows that, in the long run, weasels and liars never hold the field, so long as good people stand up. Not a lot of schools or streets named for Joe McCarthy.

Conservatives can be patriotic too. I resent your thread name...bleeding heart liberals are not the only ones to love their country. We've covered this before. Grow up...show me a conservative applauding a train wreck, calling the military the lowest of the low, or wishing cops dead.

That the bureau is being outed, it is no wonder they object to the release of the memo. I remember Nixon firing people because they were investigating him...as for Dems, their formal objection was gramattical changes, and a two word rewrite for accuracy...the bureau's final objection no longer contained inaccuracies, sources or methods...

If the memo is not truthful, why object? Let the thing out, then show America the truth, expose the lies...

I find it funny that even though Nunes has proven to be a liar, you take his word that those are what the changes were. Again I ask, if he was on the transition team and therefore subject to investigation himself...shouldn't he recuse himself from anything to do with the investigation?

Isn't in his best interest to do whatever he can to make the investigators look corrupt?

Inside the Trump administration, sources who've been briefed on the Nunes memo expect it will be underwhelming and not the “slam dunk” document it's been hyped up to be.

What we're hearing: There is much more skepticism inside the administration than has been previously reported about the value of releasing the memo, according to sources familiar with the administration discussions.

Be smart: Trump still wants to release the memo. But there are a number of people in the White House who are fairly underwhelmed, and there's internal anxiety about whether it's worth angering the FBI director and intelligence community by releasing this information.

What’s next: Trump will almost certainly approve the memo’s release. The internal debate, now, is more around whether to make further changes to the memo — redactions to protect sources and methods — on the advice of the Intelligence Community.

I suppose. But I would think by now Mueller would show cause to have him removed from the Intel committee if he was a threat to our Republic...he holds a key position, has access to sensitive information. ..

Perhaps it is a nothingburger, or the liberal media is just doing damage control ahead of its release...we aren't at tomorrow yet.
2/1/2018 8:59 PM
Republicans will look stupid if it is underwhelming, given all the hype...
