07-08 Player Release ** Updated 5/19 ** Topic

Doubleteam effects are based on the player's possession%/Usage%, which is how it's been for a while. With this release you'll be able to see that number. But you won't see a precise percentage penalty.

Not sure what you're referring to there, since his lowest season currently is a 95
There are currently 39 player-seasons in which the player received a defensive rating of 100 and played at least 1900 minutes. Bill Russell currently doesn't have any player-season with a defensive rating of 100. That could be what he is talking about.

The difference between 95 and 100 is pretty much splitting hairs, but he will be 100 for every season in the new release.

The way I'm reading into this is that all of the 50s and 60s players salaries are going to go up because of the normalization of FG%...not good for me especially since I'm on my use only players prior to 1974 kick...am I right or wrong?

Hi guys,

Will other stats be 'normalised' as well? Rebounding, assists blocks ect

Very much looking forward to the update.

Cheers

Scrooge.

Rebounds and blocks are already adjusted for pace/era since we use percentages (i.e. reb% is the percentage of available rebounds that a player gets). Assists are not normalized.

No, not necessarily. It depends on their FG% compared to the league average. Also, defensive ratings and possession% (Usage%) are changing, so that will impact salaries. And we're trying to lower salaries across the board, so we can't really say that a certain type or era of player will go up or down. It really depends on a lot of factors.

This sounds like a great addition to the sim!!

Thanks!!

Actually, a correction to an earlier post, we're going to move from using assists per minute to an assist percent, which will account for pace.

I know you said a day or two...is the release any more exact now?
5/14/2008 2:14 PM
Due to the amount of changes we're making that affect the SimEngine, the release may be pushed back to Monday, but that would be the latest. It could still come tomorrow, but if not we'll wait until Monday.

I know this is besides the point, but as long as we're talking updates...

Would anyone else appreciate an addition to the player search of ranking players by assist/turnover ratio (or is that already there and I'm too stupid to find it)?

I'll try to add an ast/to sort to the player search.

Most excellent, Seble!

2 other possible additions:

1. Sort/Search by Paint / Midrange / Perimeter lables.

2. Box Score revealing of who got doubleteamed on both teams. Makes sense that we don't know before the game. But as we are all coaches/GM's with eyes, we should be able to know this occurence after the game. This feature should probably be turned off in SimMatchup to avoid pre-game "cheat scouting".

Both good ideas.
