Interesting idea OW. I use a rating system too OW, but I have never thought to normalize it to 100 as a baseline 'good senior'. My ratings are all over the place. Like 1200 is a good SF, but 1600 is a good PG and 2000 is a good center. By normalizing it I would be better able to analyze players at different positions, which is something I struggle with.

reinsel, I guess your preditions were close. Too bad we didn't live up to expectations like usual.

Yeah, everyone had CB pretty accurately picked this year as well. We're consistently in the middle of the pack, and a fixture in the PIT. Hope next season, with 5 seniors, is the year that we finally make our way into the NT.

Henderson St. Recruiting Season 33

Griffin (PG)Davis (C)
Ath 27 (Avg) 33 (Avg)
Spd 63 (High) 31 (Avg)
Reb 33 (Avg) 51 (High)
Def 5 (Avg) 54 (High)
Blk 1 (Avg) 44 (Avg)
LP 18 (Low) 60 (High)
Per 46 (High) 7 (Avg)
BH 46 (High) 6 (Avg)
Pass 63 (High) 31 (Low)
WE 46 23
Stam 70 (High) 57 (High)
Dur 55 (High) 52 (High)
FT% 74.2 (Avg) 58.0%
TOT 473 449

Pickin's continue to be slim down in Arkadelphia. Hopefully with a year's experience, the guys at Henderson St. can have a good enough showing to get this prestige up.

I dove into the recruiting pool earlier than usual, but was relatively pleased with I found. Griffin's low D rating will hurt a little, but it isn't the most important factor in the press and most teams don't rely on their PGs to be major scorers. He has very high rebounding for a PG and will make huge gains in ball handling, passing, and perimeter. I expect him to eventually supplant Fletcher in the backup PG role and help in SG.

Davis was about the best center I could find, which is sad considering his low overall rating. I was hoping to find someone who had high athleticism to go with decent speed, but his were adequate enough since he has great potential in rebounding and low post. After signing my first recruit, I probably should have bought a number of other states to seek a PF replacement for Nagata (who is barely a serviceable DIII player), but I liked what Davis brought to the table.

I'll do my preview once all of recruiting is finished. I agree that Lally is going to be really good this year. Hopfully I can get enough from my other players to have another good year. I haven't really poured over the rosters, but I think a repeat in the South is certainly possible.

at risk of picking a fight, I have to say that Southern Arkansas has no reason being last. They have most of LA and TX for themselves. They should be able to get a much better class than this. I know, I coached SAU several seasons ago myself. If the current coach wants advice, I will be happy to give it. Just PM me.

I'm already predicting Harding does not go 6-9, mostly because they play 16 games.

If you finish 6-9, you'll owe reinsel a HUGE apology. Perhaps he knows something extra about the sim?
2/24/2009 6:35 PM
Ha! I guess I meant 6-10.

I may very well be the 4th best team in the North, but I'll be a little disappointed if I don't get back to the NT. I'm actually a little more concerned about the FR/SO behind Pasillas and Adler in the post - my run last year was based around good to very-good defense and a +15 or so Rebounding margain.

Through 3 games the defense has been what it needs to be, but I need to start beating teams on the boards.

And now, the third of the pre-season polls - the runninute version. You can take your own personal BCS formula to find a grand total if desired of the three.

North South

1 - Lincoln Memorial (1, 108.9) 1 - Monticello (2, 108.1)

2 - Delta St. (4,106.3) 2 - West Georgia (3, 106.7)

3 - Christian Brothers (5, 100.9) 3 - Ouachita Baptist (8, 97.1)

4 - Harding (6, 99.7) 4 - Huntsville (9, 96.9)

5 - Arkansas Tech (7, 98.4) 5 - Central Arkansas (10, 94.1)

6 - Henderson St. (12, 88.6) 6 - South Arkansas (11, 93.7)

Since I have been busy I am going to have to give the very short version of my South Predictions:

Monticello 12-4

West Georgia 11-5

Huntville 6-10

Ouachita Baptist 6-10

Central Arkansas 3-13

South Arkansas 1-15

Which pretty much lines up with Runninute's picks.

Well, after another conference season, its time to look back on my picks.

In the North, I was pretty close on everyone except Christian Brothers and Delta State. Maybe OldWarrior has lost the magic, but I had Delta for 13 wins and they only managed 8. And Christian Brothers exceed my expectation of 9 wins with 12.

In the South, I was also pretty close, with only Huntsville surprising me by going 10-6, inverting my prediction of 6-10.
