i think jakaitis is the most successful GM. i understand you've got a metric, but he's at the top in my opinion.

just my two cents as a guy who's seen some success, and some succesful GMs.

Never missed the playoffs eh? I guess choosing terrible teams and going through a rebuilding phase by dumping terrible contracts isn't going to get me on these lists any time soon:)

everyone in hbd knows that making through the playoffs and winning it all takes a lot of luck...i have had 114 win teams get knocked out...this has to be based on more than championships...have you dominated your league...how many playoff teams...have you taken over losing teams and got them to the playoffs...etc...

I'm not interested in being on the list. I posted because I think the list will be inaccurate, not to get included on it.

This list will be akin to "Rate a world" lists. An arbitrary standard of success is set and one can take it for what it's worth. Oddly(he says sarcastically) the standard of success put the thread creator at the top of the list.

Oh, like tec, my number is somewhere in the neighborhood of .000.

My idea of success is playoff appearances. I'm 27 for 32. I have chosen to exclude my first three seasons of HJack(I took over a 42-120 team devoid of talent) and obviously my two years in Harold Reynolds(mid-season replacement).

I think only jakatias can exceed that level of success with owners over 25 seasons.

I may start a thread.

There's a guy (Pubs) in one of my worlds who I did some checking and he has 7 WS Titles in 16 seasons (.437%). Made the playoffs in 14 of the 16 seasons and has a winning % of .643.

I don't think WS championships should be the only barometer for a great GM. I consistantly take on teams that are destroyed by previous owners and try to bring them back to prominance. Sure I'd like to win a championship, but rebuilding processes usually take 3-5 seasons.

I'm oh for less seasons than you are oh for.

Which means you suck more than me.
