In one league I had an 84 patience guy still willing to resign, and a 51 patience guy who said he's testing the market next season.

Guess Im going to have to start looking at that rating a tad more.

I have not been in a world pre-arb to sign to long term deal but in Edmonds I brought a guy to arb 3 times borderline type A probably type B and when I go to give him extension (wasnt planning on signing him) he says that I brought him to arb 3 times and wants to go to a franchise that treats their players better.

Would be interesting if teams started to get a grade on how teams treat players and would effect draft picks signing, FA signing, no trade agreements...Could always reset to middle of the road if a owner ever a team.

I looked and had 1 guy willing to stay that is showing as a type B player. I signed him as a FA last season. He is 31, shows a very slight decrease in ratings and is looking for a 5 year deal. The rest of my FAs say they are willing to stay.

If a guy says "Sorry, I'm filing for free agency no matter what" , and rejects offer when you meet his asking price, is there a price he'd sign for?

my experience is no, if he says he's filing no matter what. I've beat his asking price by a LOT and had no luck..

My first year in Joey Belle and the MVP from last year, who was on my team, Victor Morales has gone the free agent route. He is just 27 with good health and durability ratings and could put up 30 HRs and 50 SBs per season. I have escalted my bids several times and am now wondering if this is a $100Mil (5 yrs) player? Are there other 20mil/season players out there and are they worth it?

He's good, a -handed hitting "2B" who can deliver a .900 or so OPS with nice SB numbers/success rates and play 162 games. Given that he's a bad defensive 2B I wouldn't go max bid for him, or even all that close.

Its mostly stud pitchers that go for 20 mil a season plus 10 million signing bonus. Here is one hitter in my league that went for the max contract. All it takes is 2 owners that tell themselves I am signing that player no matter what to bid a player to the max. Bernie Gongora....the team that signed that player to the max contract was a new inexperienced owner. Myself I would never pay that much for a player, but I am sure there is some people out there that have maxed out on a contract and won a world series.

WiS has stated that during free agency, if multiple franchises offer the same contract and one of them was the player's former franchise (before he filed for FA), that franchise will get a "small loyalty bonus." What I take this to mean is that even if a guy files for free agency, as long as you're not like a 120-loss team, you are virtually guaranteed to get your player back if you're willing to pay true market value for him.

That would be true in a world where salaries never get grossly inflated, where all owners bid on FA's sensibly.

The next world where that is the case will be the first.

So my guy who said he was filing "no matter what" did file. The strange thing is, I met his demands right away and he gave me much more positive feedback than before the free agency period started. You'd think he'd remember the history and reject the first offer perhaps?
