Yeah, unless you consider a guy with good stamina and control to be "decent". Because you're not getting good splits or pitches.

Nonetheless, I'm not interested in seeing 24th rounders becoming studs or 2nd rounders becoming turds(if they're legit 2nd rounders). Once you turn the draft into a random free-for-all, I'll stop drafting and start signing FA. 0/0 in scouting while jacking payroll by 30m will be the way to go. Let someone else play Amatuer Roulette.

Sorry, completely disinterested in your input.

Or lack thereof.

You mean after the signing period ends, correct?

There is no "signing period" for draftees. In essence, the rest of the season is the signing period.

I think what Mike means is that any undrafted prospects immediately become FA's.

Yes, that's what I mean. Shorten the draft to 10 rounds(it's not like HBD is modeled after the MLB draft or that anyone gets MLB-quality in round 14) and all undrafted players immediately become minor league FA.

That wouldn't work because it would become a feeding ground for the first come, first served guys that stay online forever, constantly refreshing their screen from their basement computer, while sipping from juice boxes and cycling through SpongeBob and infomercials.

That's why the 25 rounds establishes some guys as "yours", to avoid such an advantage given to the terminally obsessive types around here.

Who cares who signs these guys? They aren't MLB-quality. Many will go unsigned by those who don't believe in restocking their minors. Just cut them loose on the world and let the chips fall where they may.

If you have something to add, add it. If you're trolling, do it elsewhere.

Understand?

Yeah, but those of us who MANAGE our minor leagues use the draft to stock the minors with decent enough talent to help gauge the abilities of the true prospects. You won't know how good your pitchers are unless you have adequate fielding behind them.

And you'll have a bigger pool to choose from. MG, who does a pretty good job at keeping up minors, has 92 unsigned position players from this season's draft. Rounds 11-25.

Unacceptable. Your attempt to be on-topic and then troll is unacceptable.

Your trolling will be redlined in any thread I start. But, if you want to return tonight and add nothing, feel free. I'll be gone after the PM2 cycle and won't return til morning.

This would defeat the point. The issue I have in almost every world is that I like to have 3 catchers and 3 shortstops available at each level. I dont care about offense, just a guy that can play the position for the minor league season. I normally just barely get there with catchers and come up a couple shortstops shy of my goal, even though I routinely try to draft 4-5 shortstops every season (yet always seem to only get 2 or 3 -- I suspect the draft classes are running out of them).

I think cutting dowm the amount of rounds in the draft is fine by me - i could care less about anyone drafted after round 6 or 7, and normally only sign skill position players (though if I have extra prospect money at the end of the season I may grab a few more just to fill out some inactive lists and leave me in better shape if Iget hit by a ton of retirements in the offseason).

I have a formula for the exact number of players at each position that I want at each level. I just want to be able to fill my quotas, even if it is with garbage. Give me more guys with 75-75-75-75 projected defense and 10-2-13-13-20 projected offense so I can do that.
