1. Clearly, the gun reference was a threat against WIS. You can backtrack all you want, just shows how you refuse to take responsibility.

2. Multiple IDs are multiple IDs, doesn't matter how "close" they are. You make your bed, you lie in it.

3. If you hadn't started whining... had just stayed in until a final resolution, one way or the other, everything would be hunky-dory now. Instead, you overreacted and refuse to deal with the consequences. Wipe the snot off your nose and grow up.

Because people have never heard of "personal responsibility"?

Of course he was. More than one = multiple. To expect a business to deal with every account individually is unreasonable and delusional.

As a victim of wit violence, I find this thread title pretty offensive. Not cool.

Thanks for the suggestion Todd. Good point. Poor attempt at humor in a frustrating situation and despite what Sturgis thinks the reference was intended for me and not WIS.

See? Now you might get some sympathy....

Probably not. He's still whining about his apparently 'tarded up world not filling. The only people who care about that are people in 'tarded up worlds going thru the same problem.
10/23/2009 4:04 PM
This is a example of why folding worlds is a bad idea. You get a customer who has a long term team and if he gets ousted he becomes bitter and is not interested in starting new in another world. 3 seasons equals 9 months of time invested, imagine someone with 10 seasons.

Folding worlds will never be the answer to filling other worlds, the only owners that won't care are new owners who have not invested months or years building a team.
10/23/2009 4:09 PM
You can use one owner and say "SEE?!?!? That's exactly what I'm talking 'bout!!!"

Especially if the owner is talking about guns and WifS' inability to fill his world. Most of us believe he's taking an unreasonable stance after creating his own problems.
10/23/2009 4:14 PM
A) Vague references to loading a gun are unacceptable. There are a lot of crazy people out there, and you get what you deserve when you let people worry, even for a second, that they might be under threat. I'm sure there's a 99.9% probability that you were simply frustrated and venting, but people have shot up office buildings over this little before. Beware violent metaphorical language.

B) This has nothing to do with multiple IDs. This guy got screwed. If he was really and truly a first year owner, then it would have been the fairest thing to boot him (instead of a longer-term owner) to make the merge happen. However, even a 1st season owner, once the merge didn't happen, should have been given his team back upon his request without having to scramble for it with other prospective owners. And once he pointed this all out, it should have taken 1-2 hours MAX to give him his team back. Tell the other owner sorry, and give him a $5 credit for his troubles, and boot him from cougdawg's team. Then charge cougdawg back his season credit, and give him his team back. Sure, if he hadn't changed IDs, then maybe he would not have been booted in the first place. But then some newer owner would be booted, and he would be in the same situation. The issue is why they didn't return his team upon request once he was originally booted for the sake of the merge and then the merge failed.

C) I don't like the way WIS acts like crediting you back for a season that they BOOTED you from is some kind of compensation. They HAVE to give you back your credit if they kick you out of a season for reasons other than misconduct. If they had given this guy a $10 credit right off the bat as soon as they booted him, he very well may have been mollified and taken on another team in another World.

Just my $.02 here.

I made this claim weeks ago and now this coach is a living example.

I think this owner is the voice of many owners. He might be more vocal than other owners would be, but I think many owners including myself would be bitter in this situation and it would effect our choice if we pick new teams in HBD. I don't care how good the quality of a world is now, it might not be that way 2 years from now, which is only about 8 HBD seasons.
10/23/2009 4:19 PM
OK, you got your example. You must be right. 98.6% of all HBD owners would just quit if their world was folded. Point proven.
10/23/2009 4:21 PM
FWIW, no one has quit until they leave the site. Depending on the new forums/policies, I'm outta here when I run out of credits. So, like cougdawg, I'm gone. Except I'm not.
10/23/2009 4:23 PM
What's your beef with the new forums?
10/23/2009 4:25 PM
I am not claiming any percentage. For every person who quits that will negatively effect the player base. Myself I play this game over sim baseball for dynasty reasons, it would be a turn off to me to play this game knowing a team I invested X amount of years folded. If that was common WIS policy it would effect my decision to take on a team. I think it would have a greater effect on people who actually lost a team thanks to this policy.

I am not claiming everyone shares this belief, but I am betting its a respectable percentage for people who enjoy the Dynasty aspect of the game.
