Resurrection of Hoops Dynasty... Topic

That's actually interesting to me. Although I might not call it a direct competitor (i.e. fantasy football on sportsline vs. espn.com), I certainly think you could argue that it's fighting for some of the very same market share/internet dollars.

They both cater almost exclusively to sports-loving males. I would assume that the MMA game's primary demographic skews younger (and a little more white trash, lol), but there's little doubt that there is crossover between the two audiences.

That said, I do not think that other sports sims are the culprit here. If you've been around HD for the last 3-4 years and paid attention, the events that have caused HD to lose some of its audience are pretty crystal clear, and have been revisited ad nauseum in this forum.

I think a reboot of a couple of leagues would help. JMHO.

I do like the thought of removing the reward pt, dilution that goes on at DII and DIII as a helper. - That is a manuever that will keep some of your current players (the fringe players) not necessarily attract new ones.

They tried the 'free' season to attract players but that also seemed to lead to an increase in corruption; being the current teams that would use a DIII free team or two to usue FS services to scout teams.

Anyone know how many coaches there are across the board? On average in each world? In each division? The problem is not only a DI problem and not isolated to one world but all divisions, all worlds. I would assume just getting more teams / coaches in regardless of the level would help and as the 'simple' solution was suggested to lower the price to increase the # of interested parties. Can't really think of any better solutions.

Re-instituting reward points is the single best way to get DII and DIII hopping again. I don't think there's a close second.

Literally start from scratch. Many of the leagues were started at the same time. Starting over might attract some new blood.

Part of this is also the recession guys. When WIS started, we all has disposable income. I personally know a few people who quit to "save money". I personally have five teams in HD and GL and am thinking of cutting back to save money myself.

Oh, no. WIS made a huge mistake by opening up too many worlds, which diluted the existing ones. More worlds would not be a good thing.

Cutting down prices does seem pretty logical, they might as well make some money and with there being so many open teams, doesn't seem it would hurt to lower them.

Restarting would bring in some new faces, but how would the people with top D1 jobs feel about it? They should have some compensation.

Another thought, some new people may feel it is too hard to get to a top team. If someone is doing good at a school that you want, no matter how much better you are then them, you can't get it, you are locked out...

hes not talking about adding new worlds. Hes talking about restarting some of the ones we have.

Sweet Gentle Moses, that's even worse. At the risk of being a complete dick, that idea is so bad, even WIS realizes it's awful and would never consider it in a million years. It would infuriate scores of loyal, paying customers who worked hard to get to a certain team and/or build up their dynasties. Just ... no.

mets, there are BCS vacancies in every single world. Getting to a power conference is totally doable everywhere. If you're talking about wanting one specific team, well ... tough crap. That's not a reason to change anything.

some good points, Im just saying though, there has to be SOME way to bring the game back to even half way to where it was back in the day

lol I agree. As much as I might hate my MSU team sometimes if they were taken from me I might have to quit HD.

the powers at WIS are complete morons for not having this line of thinking. They think it would make DIII more difficult for new coaches, when in fact, it would make it easier to get acclimated to the game. . . and new users would get more enjoyment as there would be more of a community established at the lower levels.

we've gone over it a few times with WIS and they seem like they will never budge on the issue. moronic, considering it would make them more money from their current customer base AND help in the retention of new users
