screwing power teams! Topic

I can kinda see Swamp's point here. If the change is going to be so drastic, shouldn't they wait until the end of a given season to implement the change? That way, teams built with a certain set of rules and algorithms in mind would have an off-season to adjust rather than an arbitrary midseason rule change.

I'm sure that's not possible.

I would assume that there's only one game engine. You can't have an "old" game engine for worlds still in progress and a "new" game engine for worlds that have rolled over after the change.

What drastic? They moderated the extreme high end of HR's for the few players that it applies to.

What offseason? There are always worlds in progress.

You've been following Doug Melvin's career!

It is more realistic to have top end HRs somewhere in the 50-60 HR range. How often do players really get above that mark and when they do, there isn't a group of them.

My point is that in order to fix 80 HR guys, they seemed to have made all top power rated players less valuable. I carry about 4 or 5 90 power guys and a few top 80s. None of the people on my team have ever hit anything above 61 homers.

It seems like they used a meat cleaver to fix a scalpel issue.

Maybe it would help to play in a smaller park to create a homefield advantage.

Aren't you the guy who uses "realism" as your excuse for every change you can think of? This change actually is more realistic. You now give the appearance of hypocracy.

They never wait unil the end of the season. Probably can't.

Homefield Advantage because its more real. Nerf the guys hitting 90 homers....more real as well

I am starting to wonder if a player with 88 power is equal to a player with 95 power. It feels almost like they just capped the max amount of power you can gain a advantage in home runs. I think more power should have a advantage and not just be capped.

How has your teams batting average been in those games? I am interested to see if those lost HR's turned into outs or hits.

My batting average has went down 20 points.

Before update AB 1690, Hits 420 Average .248

After Update AB 968, Hits 221 Average .228

Since no one else has made mention of this fact....

Obviously you built a team full of guys with low splits. You can see this is the case because BEFORE the change, your team was only hitting .248. That's ridiculously low, just so you know. Rarely do major league teams hit below .250.

ANYWAY, given that bit of info, you built this team this way DESPITE knowing that this change was coming. They announced it over a month ago. So you put this team together, and then when the change happened, you were shocked? Even though you were aware it was coming??

As I recall, isn't the definition of insanity called doing the same thing but expecting different results? I know that it doesn't apply directly across lines in this case, but this could be way 1A to tell if you're insane...

Jesus swamp...

Greene, with 95 power: 46 VL, 47VR, 32 EYE
Purcell, with 94 power: 48 VL, 42 VR, 47 EYE
Tejera, with 92 power: 58 VL, 23 (!!!) VR, 60 EYE
Standridge, with 80 power: 50 VL, 48 VR, 57 EYE
White, with 68 power: 42 VL, 43 VR, 72 EYE

These guys all suck, man. They are all in your starting lineup with the exception of Tejera who appears to be in a platoon. You can get away with having maybe one guy like that in your starting lineup, but at times you have FIVE! That's just a poorly put together team.

You may find this hard to believe but I had these guys on my team over 1 month ago. Most of my guys were on the team last year, and a season last 3 months.

And it isnt like my team is the worst in the league. Middle of the pack team. I think I did have the worst OBP last year.

Greene led the NL in homers last year. Purcell is a cheap LF. Tejera starts against leties. White is a great fielder.

Shouldnt low split guys with power still hit HRs?
