You know that there are several "bank holidays" in other countries, too, right?

Countries that have lots of paying WIS customers.

I'd be ****** if they shut down HBD for a random Thursday-Friday every November, but kept it going during the Real Thanksgiving in October.

of course, it would be nice to have the Emperor's birthday free to not worry about HBD.

WifS is based in the United States. Federal Holidays in the United States. Nothing more, nothing less. And HBD wouldn't be shut down. There just wouldn't be any scheduled events. Placeholder days.

You need to just accept that Canada is basically a French-speaking, Socialist colony of the US, and quit hanging on to this delusion that it's a real country or something...

If they were to implement this, I'd suggest that they use the angle that they are understaffed on those days (due to their company's location), rather than say they're giving their users a break as their users aren't all based in the US.

Just an optics thing, I guess, but it would probably affect how the idea is received.

It's not a bad suggestion, but maybe it should only be restricted to worlds that are currently in pre-season or the playoffs. Also, I would simplify it to include only Christmas and New Years.

On the other hand, with the iphone/blackberry/etc. revolution sweeping the world, it's easy enough to devote 3 minutes to setting your line-up or checking your coach negotiations whether you're in an airport, train station or a relatives bathroom.

What about Victoria Day? Boxing Day? Bastille Day? Canada Day?

Patriot Day!!!!

dre day!

It's less about the "can you" and more about the "should you feel the need". And, FWIW, not everyone has iphones/blackberries/etc. It just seems unnecessary to me to put the onus of getting it done on a guy who's going to load up his wife and two kids at 8 AM(as the kids were up at dawn for present-opening) for a 150 mile day trip to the in-laws for Christmas dinner. It's friggin' Federal holiday. Give the guy a break so he isn't thinking "I wonder how we did in Game 4 of the WS? I hope my bullpen didn't get obliterated because I'm going to miss the PM2 cycle also" while trying to concentrate on the mother-in-law talking about her indoor petunia garden.

I like it. Would alleviate a lot of the problems caused by owners missing key dates.

I like the idea, and would like to see it happen.

This is an outstanding idea

What about Hanukkah?
