pulling the schollie should be a negative factor - as if it subtracted some of your effort - and I think it is. It should be more and more negative over time - and I think it is. BUT, if you have done enough then he should still consider you

sorta like if you are interested in a girl, even if she says she doesnt want to go out you could still be interested....right?

Lets put this in RL perspective.. you are an 18 yo kid. You have a solid offer from Wichita State to play on their team, but Kansas has also shown interest. They are battling for a mcdonald all-american with Duke. KU has told you that they will offer the spot to you in the other kid falls through. Wichita state will wait because you would be their best player..

i still do not understand why a recruit should still consider Team A on day 5 of recruiting that has rescinded the scholly on day 2 or 3 of recruiting.

in my example above, the current logic in place makes UNC think Duke is still recruiting the kid and thus extra money is spent by UNC that isn't needed.

That's right. Real-life comparisons are reaches at best, but if you wanted to go real life, that would definitely be the reasonable explanation.

and it is valuable to be able to still be considered without a schollie on the table if the kid is your backup while you chase some other player - should we deny coaches the option to do that? why?

this does raise the point that one should try to figure out what the competing school is doing. If you can tell that your guy is probably his backup choice maybe you just hang out, phone him now and then and wait - if you are willing to wait
