Whatever they do, if it hurts my team(s), I had better be getting credits, or I'm going to have to seriously consider being upset about re-upping for......

Oh, hell... I can't even finish typing that...................

not what i meant. suppose you have the HBD equivalent of derek jeter and you're in ST of his contract year. if he's willing to re-sign now, would you go ahead and get it out of the way, at risk of him getting injured and devaluing his contract?

i'm specifically thinking of this guy:

http://whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=861555

i can re-sign him for 4/31, normally i'd do it at the end of the regular season but since he has a 95 health, i might just get it out of the way early in case he changes his mind after the update.

I guess I'm different, because I believe the HOF is one of the more exciting updates.

That sounds logical. Ninety-five health isn't that much of a risk. He seems pretty solid all around, not likely to be "rendered useless." Leave the ones that might be rendered useless to guys like little miket.

I hope they do something about the fact that almost no first round picks in the amateur draft end up going bust for reasons other than health. Anyone remember Brien Taylor? They should enhance the diamonds in the rough and maybe implement reverse diamonds in the rough, high round amateur draft picks or international signings that tank. Would be much more realistic

More realistic? Yes. But would you want to be the one responsible for responding to customer service complaints after this goes into effect? Everybody and their uncle would bombard site staff to no end as soon as their 1st round pick goes bust for no good reason.

And to make that truly realistic, the vast majority of 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders would never sniff the majors, just like real life. All while the number of 18th, 22nd and 25th rounders who become Hall of Famers would have to increase dramatically. (I know this goes beyond what you're suggesting, but my original point still stands...people would raise hell.)

Plus, it would make ranking your draft preferences a somewhat pointless waste of time, knowing there's a very real possibility that my 1st rounder could end up being terrible, even if he stays healthy, while my round 24 afterthought long reliever could turn into Nolan Ryan.

You mean the Brien Taylor who tore his labrum in Double-A and was never the same pitcher afterwards?

There is busts. Probably not as many as in real life, but there are plenty of busts. Here is some busts from 1 world.

Jesse Engle

7th pick overall, has never won 10 games in a season.

William Gordon

5th overall pick. He was released and no one signed him and has retired at a young age.He finished his career with 15 wins.

Banana Regan

Former 1st overall pick at the age of 32 has 92 lifetime wins. After his rookie season his career has gone down hill. He has never had a season ERA under 4 and he has never made the all star team.

Ed Witt

Former second pick overall at the age of 30 has never played in the major league.

Making the draft random is a really, really bad idea. For the reasons already listed.

How about David Clyde?

Rushed to the major leagues, developed arm trouble. Mishandled by Texas Rangers management.

In many ways, Clyde is probably a great real-life example of how some HBD owners "ruin" some of their prospects through poorly thought-out development.
