Those are all good. I'd also suggest -- letting the minors go to pot.

Underpopulate them. And never promote anybody, which hurries losses through retirement. Ignore international free agents.

This pays off in two ways. First and most obvious, you're not acquiring talent. Second, the talent you do have never takes a day off, which really improves the chance that they'll play fatigued and the game will break them.

One of my favorites: the "no-screening of owners" method.

Post in the Classifieds forum: "World Pocoroba is looking for 21 owners for season 15. Password is Leo Valenzuela. Join now!"

Where would "provide a detailed list of ways to FUBAR a world to potential owners" rank?

Is there going to be a newsletter on this ****?

Probably should be, the "rescuers" of FOXX have guaranteed, for the foreseeable future, that wifs will take no responsibility for policing and terminating FUBARed public leagues. This thread can serve 3 purposes (maybe 4)

(1) remind private league commissioners what to look for so their leagues do NOT get FUBARed

(2) inform owners in public worlds how to spot a FUBARing owner (biggest hint - they will object to trade vetos)

(3) inform owners in any world when their world is at risk of being (or already has been) totally FUBARed so they can vote with their feet

(4) maybe wifs will get the message that FUBARing destroys worlds and HBD participation. Counting on "rescuers" to pull wifs a$$ out of the fire is not a policy or a plan. (I admit getting wifs to act is unlikely but has a better chance of success than attempting to "rescue" every FUBARed world in HBD). Owners get to the point where "they are mad as hell and not going to take it any more" and leave, never to return, whether that is at the end of 1 season or 100

But I'm not energenic enough for a newsletter - or even a list of already FUBARed leagues (rest assured FOXX is not the only one), plus if the owners of wifs don't care enough about their product to deal with FUBARing then why should I care about FUBARing except in the leagues I'm in. Long term owners learned long ago how to do it (some do it, some choose not to) - there is nothing new here. New Owners now can learn to do it to others (do unto others but do it 1st) or what to avoid if they do not wish to be FUBARed.

If there are any techniques that have been missed feel free to add to the list

If you get a chance later today, see if you can get someone to help you remove the stick from your ***.

I'd appreciate an answer to two questions:

1. Does anything going on with/in Foxx hurt you one iota?
2. Are you really qualified to tell others how to spend their time/money?

Foxx would fill up even if Mike and the others don't go in there. The new players have no idea what a 'fubared' league looks like so they will just join cause its there. I don't think wis would ever shut Foxx down cause they know this, so why not have some vets go in and help the new guys out. Even with the super teams in there, it can still be a great learning experience for them.

I am new, and I am getting a taste of a FUBAR'd World . New Guys is really horrible. Commissioner tanks, trade rapes, and even had to let admin warn him about his minor league level. It even seems there is a group that veto's trades if they want to. The owner got upset, and instead of just leaving, he released all of his players, not a good idea. Anyway since the commissioner is a tanker, can I just site-mail admin to find an owner to my team. I hate to leave it, as I got the 1st pick, and a couple Ace pitchers, but what fun is it when the owners are not honest?

But an ad in the classifieds, find a taker and both of you will need to submit a ticket requesting the team be transferred.

As usual you are missing the point - FOXX is a symptom of bad wifs policy - being an enabler of that policy by cleaning up wifs mess in FOXX enables wifs not to address the real issue - what I have labeled FUBARing. I could care less how anyone here wastes their money but by being a wifs co-dependent the "rescuers" are furthering the decline of HBD. I am encouraging everyone to stay away from the FUBARed leagues.

You are right it is a bad experience for new owners and most will not come back - IF wifs has any internal auditing they will eventually realize this and realize that this needs to be fixed. Enabling wifs ostrich like behavior only makes things worse. This is Wifs job to fix not the "rescuers".

Would have thought you would have learned all this having done "12 step" enough, but maybe you need to go through a "12 step" refresher course.

You didn't really answer the questions.

Nonetheless, what, exactly, should WifS' policy be? If x-number of owners say "Damn, that world is f'd up" just close it down? Close down worlds with x-number of openings?

Provide a solution, or at least a suggestion, instead of ******** about what others are doing.
1/31/2010 8:39 AM
Close worlds with more than 15 openings for more than 1 calendar month.

Foxx sat, with 15 openings, for more than a calendar month before it's most recent roll (IIRC). And if people testing "Theories" don't join, it'll go a calendar month with 15+ openings.

If bornlosers wants to spend $200 or more to fill the world and play with himself, fine. But ONE of the remaining superteam guys (like usfbully maybe) should volunteer to sit there and post "New Users should avoid this world" in the world chat everyday.

Two questions for Mike:

1. Should WifS allow the poisoning of potential new customers by allowing this "cesspool" to be one of their FEW options to join? (none of my worlds take n00bs, neither does any world from the "Rescue Experts")

2. At what point do YOU think WifS should be closing worlds? Is there any situation you think YOU, personally, can't fix?
