"but clearly he had the better season and deserved the better seed"...

huh?

where are his good wins?

trade schedules and how do things turn out?

i dunno. i guess i am out of touch. or maybe just not able to look at my own team objectively. or something.

because if you all agree that team b has more impressive season... then im just dont know what to say.

he had 3 fewer losses, but i played 10 (TEN!) more games versus top100 teams!
2/4/2010 11:37 PM
"but it honestly is not a complaint, i think ive grown past that"

then agian.... maybe im not quite over it?

davey, you are right that IRL this type of seeding wouldn't happen. There is a much bigger emphasis on quality wins by the real selection committee. I think most of us have come to accept and expect that RPI is by far the biggest factor with WIS. Going 11-5 in the real Big East (although they play 18 conference games) would land you a 6 or 7 seed at worst.

You are putting to much weight on who he did or did not play. He had a better RPI, more wins, and won his CT while you did not. How is that not a better season?
2/5/2010 12:14 AM
Nipper. I'm not putting weight on who he did not play.... I'm putting weight on who he did not beat. He just didn't beat anyone.....

EXCEPT ME!!!!

The hd gods were clearly listening in. Everything seemed fine as we led by 8ish points most of the way..... Then bam...

with 5 minutes and leading by 8, we prmptly allowed a 17-0 run. And bingo.... game over season over. ....career over?

Boise did not beat anyone, other then an Oregon team and a decent average Fresno. Not a good enough season to make a BCS game? Win your games is all that counts. When you have more wins, better RPI, and win your CT that is a good season in HD.

Scoreless for almost 6 minutes...ouch. I should BPI these 2 to see who I would have had higher....through the CT?

FWIW, I think its funny how you talk about how the Penn guy didn't beat anyone, but your best non-con win was a 186 RPI...really?
2/5/2010 11:37 AM
Davey...I simply dont see your gripe here my man. How you could say you deserve a 5 seed when you beat 9 nonconference teams at home with a low RPI of 189 is beyond me. Also, most (most not all) of your conference wins were v. close to .500 teams with RPIs in the 80s. You went 1-1 in the CT. The fact you play in the Big East is why you werent a 13 or 14 IMO.

I can see your problem with him being seeded as a 5 BUT his record was great, his RPI was 33 and he wont the CT. I think the CT gives you a bump of 1 or 2 spots normally and he woulda been a 7 or 8 without the CT win.

throw my old seeding numbers out there for Penn:

(rpi + rpi + ranking)/12 [-1 for CT] becomes: 33+33+9 = 75/12 = 6.25 - 1 CT = 5.25 seed
2/5/2010 2:49 PM
For the record, this is not me, it is Howard Payne in Tark.

They had the #11 rpi, but 11-5 on the road and lost in CT. Their best win is against #26 and #36 rpi's. They're a 7 seed, which I think is weird (im still a newb). Is this strange, because I was under the impression that rpi played a big roll in seeding?

Record and winning the CT play the biggest factor. I was a 7 RPI and got the #1 seed with a solid record and winning the CT.

oldave, career over? i sure hope not! if you , who would take up the charge of ranting endlessly? and, who could do it in such a humorous manner? you said you hoped you would be missed if you . and i think a lot of people who log on late at night, wasted out of their minds, have come to really appreciate your rantings and the laughs they bring. i certainly have :) so you would definitely be missed! not to mention we'd lose a great coach. anyway... hope you stick around!
