The problem (or the main complaint) is that some people retain their 80+ rated coaches (Fielding, hitting, pitching) for some price well BELOW market rate, while others have to go dumpster diving for coaches.
Three easy ways to fix this:
- Make the Loyalty rating actually mean something (if you have five coaches with 80 loyalty, in a typical year, four of them should re-sign). That way, Loyalty becomes a legitimate rating to determine market value. It may very well be programmed in already, but I haven't seen any evidence of it.
OR
- Make all coaches free agents every year, but with NO preconceived notions about level or position. Highest bidder at the highest position wins. Period.
OR
- Allow multi-year deals, just like for Free Agents. Most would immediately throw a five-year deal at a top ML-level coach. Let them bid it up. Rather than letting the whiners determine the coaches, let the market decide.
