holy crap, he was a steal. i didn't feel like dealing with the headache so i just offered $501K to the highest rated guy with 0 offers...as it turns out, 6 FI's rated between 50 and 55 got $1.2M+ and as much as $1.9M. suckers!

I don't really give a flying rip about GAP. I hope no one hired a FI for a BC. OH LOOK!! Two coaches hired 80+ FI as ML bench coaches. Don't create your problem and beg WifS to fix it.

not sure how this applies to the other 14 or so teams but....

They could solve this problem in ONE season by just making ALL coaches free agents (just like in Season 1) with no pre-set demands or position. Let the market (re)set itself.

GAP average FI IQ now: 64.71
GAP average FI IQ in S1: 61.78

What's the problem here?

How are the guys trying to get a FI coach able to stop others from hiring them as Bench coaches?

Shouldn't WIS fix it where if a coach is offered more money to coach as a Fielding coach, they should accept that position instead?

And do this every season, works for me.

The problem (or the main complaint) is that some people retain their 80+ rated coaches (Fielding, hitting, pitching) for some price well BELOW market rate, while others have to go dumpster diving for coaches.

Three easy ways to fix this:

- Make the Loyalty rating actually mean something (if you have five coaches with 80 loyalty, in a typical year, four of them should re-sign). That way, Loyalty becomes a legitimate rating to determine market value. It may very well be programmed in already, but I haven't seen any evidence of it.

OR

- Make all coaches free agents every year, but with NO preconceived notions about level or position. Highest bidder at the highest position wins. Period.

OR

- Allow multi-year deals, just like for Free Agents. Most would immediately throw a five-year deal at a top ML-level coach. Let them bid it up. Rather than letting the whiners determine the coaches, let the market decide.

Not a problem, but you shouldn't have to be subjected to a game of musical chairs. I would bet that every real life ML team has a fielding coach with an IQ above 55 and there are plenty available. But in this one case, there were only enough available that eventually one guy was going to get screwed even if everyone was paying attention.

i agree with mrT23.

By the way, this same situation is developing with 3B coaches. The number available that even have a hint of ability is starting to get close to being less than the number of teams.

Sorry, this is true of just about every skilled position in the world.

For example, do you think we really have 100 Senators in the US that have the faintest clue WTF they're doing?

Clearly comparing to Season 1 is the best way to determine if everything is correct for all facets of HBD.

Once again, I don't care that I have a 55 FI coach for 1.5 million. Whatever the market price is. But what shouldn't happen is an insufficient number of FI coaches be generated. And while we are on the subject, how exactly does it make sense that a 80+ rated fielding coach turns downa $4 mill a year job to accept a $600k job as a ML bench coach?

It's way too close to your actual IQ?
