48 TO’s in non OT game Topic

of course, before you dig any deeper, you may want to verify this boxscore through another source, as i may (or may not) be conspiring with the wiz, or seble, or Jim Boeheim, to generate an outrageous boxscore for reasons known only to me and the CIA.

33 steals and 48 TO's?... that's just plain ugly.

Must be the game coaching element...;)

If this was something that happened a bunch then it would be a problem, but 1 isolated incident isn't that big of a deal. Also when things like this get posted and people say it happens too frequently, just think about the shear # of games that are simmed everyday. 984 teams in 10 different worlds so 9,840 teams so that means anywhere 3,000 games to 4,900 games simmed everyday, compared to 2-300 in real life and of those we are only aware of the results in D1. I'm sure there are some ridiculous in real life D2 and D3 that if happened in this game people would be saying the engine needs to be fixed.

you cannot look at the sheer number of TO's. You have to look at in respect to number of possessions.

Both teams went uptempo and there were probably twice as many possessions than in most games.

I dont know how to calculate the number. If its just TO's plus FG attempts, then its 104 possessions in the game for St Paul's. Thats turning the ball over at a 46% clip. I'm sure you have to factor in FT's, so it should be even lower than that

and thats the same as a team that had 50 possessions turning it over 23 times. 23 TO's? no biggie

not saying its not outrageous. but i can see it happening. i just dont think people should key in on the number of TOs, but the percentage relative to possessions.

i dunno mrP... i mean, i see what you are saying, but i would have the same issue if a team turned it over 24 times in a super slomo game, too. it just doesnt seem realistic to me. you could prolly find where it happened at some point in real life, but it just seems too whacky for me.

but, like the man said, they are working on fixing the game, so lets just be patient and see what they come up with.

I estimate 93 possessions. FGA + (.5 * FTA) - OR + TO.
That's high for a real-life game, but HD isn't real life... you can really uptempo or really low-tempo. Avg. tempo for NCAA D1 is 67.6 possessions/game.

48 turnovers on 93 possessions is really bad (51.6%). But the young frontcourt with poor cores is also bad. You ran into a buzzsaw.

It's indeed an outlyer, but it seems like St. Paul's got hit with the perfect storm. Low BH, lower IQ's running FB against a good press team that was also running uptempo and had better speed. Definately on the verge of unbelievable in RL context, but not all that surprising as a HD outlyer.

Weird stuff happens in individual games. Doubt you'd see a team go 30-31 in FGs in a half, either, but that's the joy of HD.
