OK, let's start with this: Your Cornell team would not be able to have athletic scholarships.

Low/Mid DI schools would have no chance to sign a recruit if a BCS team was interested in him.

I could go on and on and on and on ... there are dozens of things from real life that are quite simply bad for HD.

But it wouldn't really be a FCP then, since you aren't really pressing in the last 1/2 to 1/4 court. I think that is covered in the press/man option.

But that's not really what a FCP is in real life. A FCP is "full court" because you pick them up for the entire court.

Maybe I just misunderstood (I've never run press on any team until this year). Does HCP actually mean that you're running a FCP and then switching to a base defense once they cross halfcourt?

That would be dumb, no team "presses" the entire court, they either go into a trapping zone or go man-to-man once the team gets into the halfcourt. If that's the case, WIS should completely get rid of the FCP press as a base defense.

That's right isack, that's exactly what FCP means in HD, and it is dumb.

Huh, interesting. Yeah, I wonder why they keep it around, that clearly makes no sense.

There should be a way to get rid of it as a base but keep it as an additional combo defense that still requires practice minutes.

seble has told me that he eventually will scrap them both as primary options, instead utilizing the hcp option that actually gets used in real life.

same here dalt... i am sure the eta for that is like a year away at least...

Transfers would have to sit out a season

If we added every thing that resembles real life in college basketball that had a negative consequence, it's possible a good percentage of coaches would quit.

Low potential, players leaving early for the NBA, low scoring games and how could we forget dilemmas. These are the things that drive some coaches mad and quit. But you won't get an overwhelming support group from this notion, because a lot of the coaches that would be in agreement with me have already .

Maryland running this FCP right now.

I think the HD press should really be called a full court trap because I think thats really what it is.
