Why would any choose to coach in the Pac10 unless they couldn't get a job anywhere else. Stay at Butler and wait for a job here in the midwest or out east to open up with a good fit
Nike + New Arena = A very wealthy next head coach at Oregon

Ya but sull if your getting paid a couple mil a year or something and you don't make the tournament in the next couple years your out on your butt with no place to go. He is young enough to wait for a great job choice.

I would assume he isn't in the coaching biz just to make the bucks, i would think he loves the game and what he does as well. So just a big pay day isn't going to interest him if he can't win.

We shall see though. It would be great to see him stay put like Gonzaga has had.

He seems to be a special kind of coach. I believe he will win a lot of games wherever he goes, and it wouldn't take much to take over the crappy PAC-10...Oregon is a possibility, but yeah, only if Hayward goes EE. Soon he will be earning 7 figures from someone. Can Butler afford that?

Stevens himself pointed out that Butler won 4 NCAA Tourney games by 3 possessions or less, what are the chances of pulling that off again? Another final four would be damn near a miracle...just saying...

Why would he want to leave. He is from Indiana he has had a great program in just 3 yrs and was a head ach for all the so called elete schools that buy there way into top seeded spots..

I agree. The local boys are more likely to stay. The same holds true for Chris Mack at Xavier. He's a local talent, playing high school ball in Cincinnati before starring at Xavier. They only lose one player (two if Crawford goes to the NBA).

Xavier's been a stepping stone for several coaches. Their former head coaches include Pete Gillen (Providence and Virginia); Thad Matta (Ohio State) who coach at Butler before coming to Xavier; Sean Miller (Arizona); Bob Staak (Wake Forest); and Skip Prosser (Wake Forest)

Some of their assistants have become head coaches as well. Louis Orr (Bowling Green); Dino Gordino (Wake Forest); Bobby Gonzales (just fired at Seton Hall); Jerry Wainwright ( just fired at DePaul).

He will be the next head coach at... BUTLER!

He isn't going anywhere.

David Letterman offered Gordon Hayward this bit of advice on whether to turn pro: "I don't know if you know this or not, but they got guns. In the locker room."

my son said the offer at oregon will be 2.5M, making 500lk right now, that is pretty hard to turn down

he should stay at Butler one more year. Butler will be a top 5 team next year. Its not like there wont be someone next year who will offer him the same amount of money. Plus as an Oregon fan, I can tell you that their roster is not a good fit for Butlers style of play.

there's also the possiblity of the Indiana job opening up in a few years.

I'm not sure how long the fans in Bloomington will tolerate the Hooisers being, at best, the 4th most successful team in the state of Indiana.

Oregon needs to hire Mike Dunlap - the best coach nobody has heard of.

You think Crean has done that bad of a job? I think he has done a great job, especially when you take into account that he came in with 1 or 2 scholarship players on the team and lost their best player this past year.

I think the Hoosier faithful are looking for something, anything positive, on the recruiting front. There have been a few high profile locals that Crean has missed out on. And the followers of the crimson and cream can't believe all 5-star recruits don't want to attend Indiana. Next season's recruits really aren't even up to a MAC standard school.

World Wide Wes is the gatekeeper for the Oregon job. I hear Scott Drew (Baylor) will be getting it.
