And the assists are definitely averaging higher. And the turnovers are about where they should be based on RL. . so. . .

I hadn't checked the test site in awhile, so I'll wait and see on this, but in the first couple rounds of testing, they were the same.

They changed it in a later season, not the first season. There was much tweaking of things like block rates, rebounding rates and assist rates.

Seble actually just tweaked blocks and assists, etc before the most recent game he simmed.
4/29/2010 7:22 PM
Again. But they had been tweaked before.
4/29/2010 7:37 PM
You're right.

There are many changes, but the biggest is that the player skills improve much more slowly, but the hard cap is still there, so without a few seasons of testing it is hard to say that things are back to the way they were before the steroid era.

There are a tremendous amount of bugs, even in the third season, so I am amazed that they are ready to roll it out. I did have a guy with 27 DU get injured and drop to 60%. That hasn't happened in a long time. I guess they want to make DU meaningful again. That could be a big change that ****** people off that hate injuries at all.

My personal pet peave is the PBP change that they introduced. Fortunately seble changed some of the things that drove everyone nuts. I just didn't think PBP was a problem that needed to be fixed. Start getting used to, "Dustin Baker hits the front of the rim on the jumpshot from the free throw line". When I am scanning and read "Dustin Baker hits", I am expecting a basket. I don't need to know what part of the rim he hit, but that's me. You will learn to hate it too.

No end-of-game logic fix? Players will still take bad shots early instead of running out clock?
4/29/2010 8:42 PM
Jetsons: They didn't Drive EVERYONE nuts, they drove YOU nuts.

OK, maybe I was the most vocal, but seble did change the steals back to the side of the team making the steal. There were a lot of complaints about that. How many forum complaints have there been about the existing PBP? Why would they spend one minute playing with that?
4/29/2010 9:02 PM
There were also a good number of people who said they LIKED the new PBP.

JUst because YOU don't like it doesn't make it bad for everyone.
4/29/2010 9:04 PM
Right you are a in the b. Play by play is now just like being at the game. Details that I always missed. It is really a minor point and maybe most will enjoy the changes. At least the first version has been fixed. Again, was that the reason for the new engine? People were screaming for more drama in their PBP?
4/29/2010 9:13 PM
WHat is different about the pbp?
4/29/2010 9:15 PM
I guess they still have the steals on the side of the team with the ball, not the team stealing the ball. Is that something anyone wanted?

4/29/2010 9:29 PM
Why are you so obsessed with the play by play?

I wonder how much other testers had to change?

I found the whole testing experience underwhelming, I really had very little idea what was going on. Sometimes I'd log on and find 5 games had simmed, other times I would not see any changes for a week. I did not find the test forum to be near as active as I would have hoped, or near as constructive, but seems like the job got done reasonably well - but the new engine will be different and will take time to adjust to.

Overall, I just caution coaches to give things a chance, I would suspect the first few months are going to be VERY challenging for the masses. Also, some coaches are big time 'flamers', would be nice if they allowed the complainers time to adjust, as this is going to be a very difficult time anyhow, without coaches squabling among each other thereby deflecting the focus on the issues that will need facing up to.

Good luck to everyone

O
i felt this way so much that i quit logging on or even checking anything. so little information was provided and in such a haphazard way that it was a waste of time.
