I agree with danmam, I wouldn't let that guy be my bat boy. Congrats to him for having a good year but his ratings are just plain bad.

And look at his numbers besides ERA-- opponents are batting .282 against him and he has a 1.45 WHIP. Opponents are slugging .418 against him. And even those numbers seem artificially deflated. Frankly, in a neutral ballpark with average defenders, this guy looks like a sure bet to have an ERA in the 5's for his career. Good luck with him...
And what credibility do you have? What with your stellar record and all..
Are you serious dude? You've got a sub-.500 record and as many championships as me.

Ok boys, everyone be easy now. We are all reasonable men here. Let's just enjoy the lively debate and not take personal shots. It's better that way... I think. And if we are taking personal shots: Sander I hope our teams meet in the WS because mine rules and your stinks!!!!! Muhahahahaha!

But like I said, no personal shots.

A 3.63 ERA and 1.45 WHIP wouldn't be nearly good enough to garner a ROY vote out of me. Wins, as a lone stat, are overrated, and thats all this guy has going for him.

He went 15-5, 3.63. Yes, he was more lucky than good. But most owners would take the 15-5, 3.63 from a rookie #5 SP.

I've never had a DITR come close to the ML, let alone post a 15 win season. Is he great? Of course not. Maybe his team has a great offense. I don't think he will remain a ML SP for long with those splits, but he has decent control and a 90 #1 pitch. He might hang on as a LRB on a mediocre team for a while, but for this one season he didn't suck.

Exactly. Torrone gets it.

He is having a good year but you can find a good amount of starting pitchers in the minors that will never make the majors that are as good as him.

This player won rookie of the year for me. He was 17-7 with a 2.89 ERA. He never won 10 games again or had a ERA under 5 as a starting pitcher.

He'd be a bad 5th starter. Pretty fortunate year for him though....sometimes you get lucky.

Has anyone else seen a DITR win ROY?

I have never had a known DITR make the major leagues, however I have speculated Don Wilson who has had a good career is a DITR. His ratings are pretty good for a 13th round draft choice.

Yeah, but you're also more likely to get it from a scrap heap FA.

Jeez. The guys doesn't suck. He could be an acceptable LR. I don't he'll ever see a 3.63 ERA again but he can have a career in the bigs. To me, he'd have a spot until he asked for 1m in arb.

Agreed. I have seen guys with very comparable ratings make a living as a LrB or a Mopup guy so long as they are in a pitchers park.
