Down with the press!!!!!!!!!

How about the fastbreak? Is it less successful now or can it still be successful with a good pg and a deep bench?

And he played 6 minutes because he was in foul trouble I think.

Still lot of weird results still. Like this one, Mississippi State gives up 14-19 from behind the arc to a sim team with around equal ratings playing a "0" press?

The shooting percentages these FCP teams are giving up are brutal. I'm not sure if its a fatigue thing, an IQ thing, or a doubleteams-getting-beat-with-good-passing thing.

About time they fixed the damn thing. I'm of the opinion that if you have the right players you should be able to run ANY set. But we had WAAAAY too many average/mediocre teams succeeding running the FCP and it wasn't the least bit realistic.

So.....all the coaches that jumped on the FCP bandwagon and ran it with halfass teams are now "reaping" the benefits, and I say "good for them".

And Dalter, Dave wasn't the only one who wouldn't change to the Press "out of principle". You can add me to that group also........

I'm not arguing that it is less realistic now (it is clearly more realistic); however, we have gotten used to that defense working in a particular way. We have recruited for it and practiced for it. For it to become almost completely useless overnight is insane
But I mean...realistically, how would you make the change then? I'm all for the "you can swap your press IQs for equivalent IQs in any other defense". But the real issue is that for years and years you could get away with running uptempo/FCP with a 10-man rotation which is equally or moreso insane. If that's what people "recruited for" then I'm struggling to feel really bad for them after they racked up a sh*t-ton of wins and success.

My first game in the new engine last night using the press my team didn't suffer a lot of the effects that I am reading but of course its one game.

The team I was playing only had 2 players rated higher than an 80 in stamina and we ran them out. With 6 minutes in the first half we were up 31-13 and every player they had was very tired and couldn't keep a fresh body on the floor but we managed to keep our players fresh for the most part all game and coming into the second half all my starters were fresh but one and he was fairly fresh.

Maybe we press users just have to tweak how we have used it in the pass and look for ways to exploit this issue.

I like his perspective.

While I had success with the press for several seasons last season I had the vast majority of my success when going to the Man/Half Court press instead of fullcourt.
I am glad the correction is being made even though it will take much of my team some time to get their IQ's up to speed in the Man D.

cheeznsweet - I do acknowledge that I messed up my gameplan in that first game. I don't expect or want to play guys 30 min a game. I just thought I could get 25 min a game -without dying - out of a guy with 91 stamina.

Now if only WIS would turn back the clock on free throw shooting to the days when everyone was at A+ we could really lay some lumber on these pressing fools!!
