But your failing to see that we may not even have the same positions in each era. Am I going to get an advantage from a catcher I have to your RUTH? I doubt it. I really can't believe all the flack I am getting about this. My intention was to have some good nature fun, along with show my appreciation, and it has been taking seriously like it really matters who is better. I really wish you guys would change your mind and stay, but if you don't want to try something knew or can't trust a guy that really has no reason to lie, then there is nothing else I really can do.

A couple things.

First, I completely agree with mensu. I will not play live under any circumstances... I like to, but I don't have the time and I won't commit to any league where I might have to. So the playoffs would have to be guaranteed non-live for every round for all of the non-live players.

Second, I agree with jbussey and len that the whole roto thing is at best unnecessary and at worst heavily biased in favor of the live players.

If you really want a league where you find out who is better then you need to go by wins and losses. And yes, I realize that the non-live players may have an edge there because live guys aren't used to building teams where the playoffs are simmed. But hey, you threw down this gauntlet, you've got to win our way :)

Having said both of those, I'm still willing to play on two conditions. It's hard to turn down a free team and this does sound interesting.

The first condition is this: there need to be 4 playoff teams from each side. The fact that the "top 8" teams make the playoffs risks us having 6 or 7 live teams make it (or, of course, 6 or 7 non-live teams). I won't sign up for that. Change it and I'm in.

The second condition is this: I'd like some kind of guarantee from admin that the free team actually exists. It's nothing personal but I don't know you (and I'm a Yankee fan, so naturally suspicious of Bostonians).

If these are too much, then feel free to give away my spot. Thanks either way for the invitation.

I can back off the roto a little bit. Would it make everyone feel better if I did it by league? Meaning that I would rank all the live players from 1-12, then rank sim players 1-12 and have 4 playoff teams per side?

Okay I know I am not in but what if you play the playoffs AL and NL then the only possibility of no LIVE guys playing LIVE is for the home games of the LIVE guys in the WS. Much like the use of the DH.

As long as it's 4 playoff teams per side I don't think it really matters if it's 1-12 or 1-24, but whatever everyone else is comfortable with is fine with me.

Well I have not got the reaction I even thought about. I wanted to do something different while making it fun for everyone by offering a free team and a fun way of going about a league other than wins and losses. I wanted to show appreciation to players in wis. But all I have heard is withdrawls and problems with the league based on false presumptions. So you win, the league is dead. You still want a free team for ur troubles? Contact me and u will get transferred one. This whole experience has me really disappointed in myself for believing people could play nice, come together, and just have some fun. People are just worried about winning and nothing else. You are already getting a free team so why foes it matter if you would win or not? In every other league out there, you only get acfree team if you win the WS. If people want to say I just did this for attention, then so be it, I don't care anymore. I know what I was trying to do, and that's all I need. I will be taking a break from the forums after this message so make fun, b$tch all you want, call me names, whatever u want, I'm done and will not respond. So thank you for your interest, and thank you for shooting down my idea, I'll go back to just using the same players over and over again. Sorry to the guys that actually would have done this, but without guys committing, I can't runvthe league like I intended for it. 3 months down the drain is my bad and I have learned my lesson.

WOW - I was really looking forward to this. The team is free and you made concessions on the playoffs so I don't understand the resistance. All I can say is nice try BastanRedsox. Keep me in mind if you ever try again.

There are several types of resistance. There are the thoughtful points made and questions brought up by owners such as biglenr and bilfert, and there are ridiculous personal attacks by those annoyed that they wasted 30 seconds of their lives reading a sitemail and posting something. The former can explain a reason for an owner bowing out or lead to discussion that improves the league concept. The latter can drive good folks like Bastan to abandon an idea that had a lot of promise. Because really, who needs it?

awesome idea Bastan..too bad a few didnt like it...cant you recruit others to take their place? I am willing to play either side depending on your needs.... Guys getting a free team regardless why complain, just say no thanx it is not for me.

The efforts to create a theme that bridges the "live world" with the "sim world" is in itself a very creative idea. The response on the sim side was considerable. 27 or 28 guys wanted in and the post got a huge response. Don't give up on the idea just cause a few fellas objected to the rules. I bet you can easily fill the 12 slots by reaching into the waitlist.

Not all themes fill enthusiastically, not all themes appeal to everybody. That doesn't mean the idea is a bad one, just that you cannot please everybody. Stick with your idea and make it happen.

I'd put a team in on both sides as well, though I guess that would defeat the whole purpose. I'd also pledge to do nothing to help any other owner pad any stats.
