But then there's no Conference Championship Game which pulls in the big $.

'Adding Kansas St. to the question makes it harder to answer in the affirmative in any of the expansion scenarios.'

agreed,
plus you are right that Kansas is at risk...
which pretty much tells you that Football is King when a BB elite school like KU is holding it's breathe in anticipation.

KU and KSU have no legal bindings to stay together but they have agreed to make every effort to stay together. A&M and Texas are legally bound. I've spent hours listening to KC radio about this. UGH!

KU is only enticing because of their basketball program and since these conferences are making decisions based off of football programs, KU and KSU are not looking like blue chippers.

In addition to all this, Lew Perkins and the KU admin has some off the field/court issues that are not helping anything.

Yeah...that too. But Colorado is apparently on the edge of losing some scholly's, so who's to say what looks worse than what.

In the Jayhawks' defense, I think KU just has the misfortune of being the first one caught at the ticket scandal. I'd wager things run far deeper and more pervasive than just at Kansas. It just happened that the folks in the office there were a bit less competent at hiding their tracks than elsewhere.

I can only imagine what sports radio is sounding like right now down KC way. My e-mail box has been going nuts from former colleagues on this.

Nebraska regents have informally agreed to leave for the Big Ten. A formal announcement will come Friday.

Several officials in the Big 12 South have said if Nebraska leaves the conference, the Big 12 is dead.

Both also just posted on Chip Browns twitter.

Sounds like it's happening. He's been breaking everything correctly.

Jimmy Hyams of WNML-AM 990 in Knoxville has covered SEC sports for more than 30 years. Citing sources close to CBS, he said,

" The SECs goal would be to keep pace with a 16-team Big Ten by pursuing Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State and Clemson.

If Texas and Texas A&M cannot be lured in, then Miami and Georgia Tech will join Florida State and Clemson on the SEC's wish list."

I know, but the CC game is just another part of the MGW culture that college football has made for itself. I'd rather see a legit champion in conferences where all teams play each other, than teams playing 8 out of a possible 11 teams, than competing in a "CC" game...so you can imagine how I feel about the 16 team mega conference ala the WAC from 1995 or 1996 to 1997 or 1998.

Shockingly enough, just as on the national stage, I want an UNDISPUTED conference champion as well, and you'll never TRULY get that unless all teams play all teams an equal amount of times, or hell even all at once even.

Jim Young of ACCSports.com says that, if the SEC expands, they should consider North Carolina. He says that would dampen the Duke-NC rivalry since they'd only play once/year as non-conference opponents.

Apparently, the SEC wouldn't want Duke due to their abysmal football program

I don't think that'd happen. UNC wouldn't go. I think a more logical fit is Virginia Tech.

Texas: Huh?
Nebraska: I am fully invested in this conference unless something better comes along.
Oklahoma: How does sitting on that fence feel?
Texas: Nebraska, what can we do to get you off of the fence?
Nebraska: Nothing really. Joining the Big Ten is appealing. I mean, it's like a time warp. Neither of us have really been relevant since the late 90's, so it will be kind of comforting to be amongst like-minded people. Michigan called me and invited me over for a 90210 and Melrose Place marathon.
Oklahoma: That's really sad.
Nebraska: Look, I want to be with other people who think time stopped after the late 90's. Do you know how much being me sucks right now? I haven't won a conference championship in ELEVEN years. Hell, even Kansas State over there has won a conference title since I have.
Kansas State: Kicked your *** too.
Nebraska: frack off. And my basketball program is an embarrassment. In the Big Ten, Sadler ball will be considered 'up tempo', and my waning baseball program will be one of the southern most schools, so I'll have a leg up there.
Texas: Everything you just said there makes me sad.
Nebraska: You're sad? The only reason I'm not sad is because my entire state has been on Prozac since Tom Osborne retired. Do you really think we like Pelini? The guy wears sweatshirts on the sideline. SWEATSHIRTS. The guys in the navy blue polo shirts at Wal-Mart that greet me when I walk in look and act more professional than he does.

Iguana... I've read that entire article (probably would get reported if I posted it) and it was by far one of the funniest pieces of writing I've read... ever. Just awesome.

Hey Iguana, nice way to try and make it sound like this is real. It was on KSU's website, who's probably the most jealous of Nebraska out of all the Big 12 North teams, and it was making pokes at everyone. I would like to post the link, but apparently it would get reported??? I have never met a Husker fan that doesn't like Pelini. The main thing that you intentionally neglected to say is that this ISN'T REAL. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUNNY ARTICLE

Nice assumption that I meant to slip this column by as factual. Anyone that thought this was actual text from the Big12 meeting must have an extremely difficult time on April 1st.

p.s. I better not mention that in lieu of money the Tooth Fairy is going to start handing out tokens to casinos.
