agreed; as upset as I am with HD for releasing the reboot, at this point they do need to fix problems as they see them.

What was the point of beta then? In less then 2 weeks that is 10 changes, a reset, a delay and a few other issues with multiple players on rosters, the knight NT thing etc. This really isn't looking good for them. They are on pace for a screw up every 24 hours.

agreed furry, but at this point we have to accept we are paying to test beta. That is a screw up they have already committed. I will most likely play out my string then take my ball and go home.

So will this negatively effect my shooting guard who hasn't missed a three since June 4th?

Really? You're saying beta didn't go well? That they should've tested more? Thanks for the newsflash.

We all know this. It's a fact. Right now, they're simply trying to fix what's wrong.

At least we're being notified of the changes.

The previous administration decided that the 3 pt. shooting was too strong. So they changed it before the Sweet 16 round...without announcing it. So, of course, that was the only game all season that I started three guards.

i thought that they had a method to implement changes on a worlbyworld basis. and i thought that was the way they said they would do any change that effects the gameplay engine.

Does anyone else recall this? it was a while ago, back when tarek was still around but near the end of his reign.

i swear im not making it up.

amen brother.

If nothing else, Seble is transparent and honest. I applaud him for coming out and openly admitting when things are going as planned and then getting them fixed. I never get the "things are according to plan" response from him.

BETA was botched but you never know how much control he actually had over the process.

I think the beta testing was going well...they just needed to continue with it longer.

We were given 4 or 5 season credits for the testing and only completed one.We did run through the second season several times(due to re-sets)...and then suddenly we're going live with it.

I just wish the good folks at WIS would have been more patient on this release and let the beta testers work with this deal longer.I think we only recruited once,so I'm not sure how that could be good data.

I love the game and the friendships made playing it.But I'm not sure I'll ever add anymore teams again.

Although I will keep the teams I do have.I have to be getting close to being the coach who has the most seasons without a National Championship(4 id's).
I have won a couple PIT's...but whats that...the 65th best team.

Who would have thought zone would work better than press...oh well.I'm still having a tough time with that new change.

I'm sure Miami would be happy to have him!

I am not privy to the technical challenges in running a site like WIS, but it seems like it should be feasible to roll out changes world by world. From all appearances, the worlds seem to run independent of each other. They have proven they can roll out the recruit generation across different worlds. And in fact, I believe they rolled out the new engine across different worlds as worlds weren't switched to the new engine mid-season as far as I am aware.
Thus, it seems feasible to roll out the adjustments world by world. Obviously if there is an adjustment that is making the game unplayable (i.e., player's disappearing, multiple versions of the same player, something else), then that should be rolled out immediately to all. But adjustments to how accurate certain shots are, etc., should be made after the season is over.

It makes for a very frustrating experience when the rules of the game keep changing as we are playing. I can deal with the quirks of a new engine, because, for the most part, the results are predictable. When the parameters keep changing, however, it becomes a game of cat and mouse with the technicians of WIS trying to guess what the next change will bring to my teams.

It would be unbelievably difficult. Right now they have 2 engines running. In your example, they would need a completely different engine in each world. You would also never know what engine was in play in each world (ie, Allen has the 3 point bug, Rupp has the HCA bug, etc.).

Right now, they have a new code base and an old code base ... the team is in one or the other. That is fairly challenging (and caused the Knight fiasco) ... running 10 separate engines in various stages of code sync up ... WOW.

You really dont have to defend everything they do. You lose a little credibility when you just blindly defend them.
6/11/2010 9:04 AM
And neither do you have to attack everything they do/
