I think it makes the d2 aspect of the game much more interesting. Now we  have more opportunities to decide to compete with low d1 schools for recruits, and the number of battles in d2 has/should go up considering the value of good recruits. In my first rec. session in Allen with the new engine, I got poached to death for 3 different recruits 2 of which came from d1 schools. I realize there is no poaching, but I think the days of high prestige d2 schools droppping a couple of hvs and waiting for a recruit to sign with little worry of competition may be over.
nb, I don't think that was ever the case ... my good DII teams have consistently had low DI teams take recruits away throughout the years. It's definitely not a new phenomenon.

Maybe thats why you have the rings and I wallow in the bottom half of the top 25 year after year.

I think it is interesting to see higher ranked players available to DII schools, but didn't think those players were all that good.  I found (and feared) that guys rated in the 170s were better quality players and figured DI schools would come calling after seeing the dearth of talent in the 50-100 range.  It seemed that there were a lot more players with low potential in multiple or key categories.

I just signed the #200 Center in Knight and he is going to end up much better than some of the other higher ranked Cs I looked at.  I have no idea why he was ranked so low compared to these guys because he was better in almost every category.  The only thing I can think of is his 1 speed, but still, I think the rankings are way off (I don't mind though).

The rankings are based on the base rating, without considering potential. That's why the rankings are a curiosity at best.   And I'm OK with that.  There are so many factors that go into potential...playing time, starts, practice time, etc....that it'd be difficult to rank them

I'm finding that out right now.  Everybody I want is considering a D1 SimAI school and they in no way compare to my past recruits.  I keep 2 or 3 of my past recruits for each position that panned out for me.  All of my past recruits rate higher (on my scale) than anything that's available for me on backup calls.  These recruits stink.  And on top of that, they're considering D- SimAI schools, so I'm going to battle and see what happens.

Let us know how those battles work out for you. I tended to avoid them my first time around in the new engine.

Here is a question about pulldowns/Dropdowns.

If a guy ignores you or tells you he will not sign at all with you, after signing starts does he change his mind if he is undecided ... or does he just go unsigned rather than look at team like that?

What I am wondering is if the "Do you believe in Miracles" or totally ignore you guys will ever change their mind at some point (last day, 1 or 2 cycles before the end).

I ask, because several of the guys who I liked for Div-III (as Div-II potential pulldowns) are still there as undecided.

No, if they don't like you they never will.

I posted this in another thread, but I think it's more appropriate in the one.

I went after a pulldown that was considering a SimAI D1 school & here's the results.

The player I was after was the 63rd ranked SF, was 50 miles from me, 572 rating, and I was battling D- Prestige McNeese State coached by SimAI for him.  I'm A+ prestige Harding.  He had no stars and gave me the backup option.  So heck yeah, I was going to gun for him to see if I could get him.

He didn't accept my home visits and scholarship until the last cycle.  I think if I started a cycle or two earlier on him, I would have got him.  But would it be worth it.  This is what I went through.

I spent "only" $8558 on him.  But he was 50 miles away, so that's a lot.  Here's the breakdown:

25 calls
20 coach calls
15 letters
45 evals
2 home visits

Verdict?  Yeah, you can recruit those sub 100 ranked guys that are considering SimAI D1, but obviously it's not worth it.
