how to use the FB/FCP with the new engine? Topic

I don't think it's necessarily the defensive ratings as much as stamina. The performance of my guards corresponds more closely to their stamina ratings than before. Guards with lower stamina seem to get into foul trouble faster than before, which with stamina issues is a double whammy.

On my Wooden UW-Superior team, I can't get Mo Draughn more than 18 minutes a game because he seems to be in foul trouble every night. Also, look at the # of FTs that PGs are shooting - my backup PG Fogarty is leading my team in FT attempts along with my starting PG Draughn despite playing only 17 mins per game and averaging less than 5 shots per night. If you don't have a great backup at PG, I think FB/FCP teams are in a heap of trouble.

Draughn has only a 22 defense though.

Agreed, but if you pull up his history, he's averaging double the fouls that he has in any other season, and that's in fewer minutes with higher DEF, ATH, SPD, and STAM than in prior seasons.. My point is that the new engine generates an unbalanced number of fouls towards guards, and especially PGs, so you need huge backcourt depth to run the FB/FCP effectively.

The new engine values defense and one on one matchups higher, so his lack of defense means more now than it did before.  When he is facing a really good offensive player, he's more likely to draw fouls than before. Which would explain his history.

There are no 1 on 1 matchups against the press though, are there?

Not sure exactly how that change would work in relation to the press - but if there was an increased emphasis on mismatches, I could see several ways it could apply to a press as well.

But look at SR SG Fyodor Wisinski of norm's Marantha Baptist team. A 682 ranking, 80 speed, 46 def ratings, and he's committing almost double the fouls that he did last year in roughly the same # of minutes.

Wow!  That team looks pretty good.  Why do they have a losing record?  Must be the coach!

i allways assumed it was a m2m press.  so that every player was gaurding one man, but also there was auto DT every time someone touches the ball,  not sure that makes any sense.  so,  now that i think about it,  thats a good question.... in the newHD, when you are running FCP... are there matchups that you need to worry about?  or is it such a mad scramble that one on one matchups are thrown out the window.  in other words ,,, if your opponent has a stud SF,  does it matter who you put at SF in terms of slowing him down?
