Ask wetwillytwo about how a bad team can really mess things up.

Oie, no kidding. That 2008 Coors Field team still keeps me up at night. My teams that round 1 were 84-78, 88-74, 83-79, 83-79, 86-76, and 10-152.

Ouch, how close were you to making it to the final 24? I don't think my two teams (GM or Twist) will be that bad. Sounds like it was the same lesson I have learned, never go into a season without pitching.

Short answer. No.  In fact, there are typically only a handful of owners that fail to get even one playoff team.

Enjoy it while it lasts.  When I reached first, I was at .622 (four full games ahead of 2nd place) and I was on top of the world.  That was only 2 days ago and I've had zero winning sessions since then (3-3, 1-5, 2-4, 2-4, 3-3, 2-4).

Throw in another 2-4.

In last year's tournament, the highest finish by an owner with zero playoff teams was 64th place (shysters).  He actually finished with a .502 winning percentage.  His teams won 73, 90, 79, 80, 88 and 78 games.  Of the 24 teams that advanced to round 2, only three had as few as two playoff teams.

In 2008, there were only 72 participants.  The highest finish by a team with zero playoff appearances was 50th (thebubbaq).  He had a .488 winning percentage.

Well, I just cracked the top 24 for the first time.  May be jinxing it, but I had to savour it while it lasts.

13 of the pre-season top 24 are currently among the top 24.  Five more of the pre-season top 24 are ranked 25-37th.  We've got a surprise #1, with 50th seeded footballmm11 sitting in first place.  72nd ranked simhead is at 13 while two teams ranked in the 90's are among the tp 24 (jtpsops, hacker7).

In case anybody was wondering how big of a WIS nerd one can be, I took a screenshot of the standings page when I first moved into 1st place and made it my desktop background for a day. Also, I'm pretty sure there's a saying about if you're happy to be there you probably won't stay there. Whatever, I'm enjoying it while it lasts!
