He'll burn an option every year he's on the 40 man, and you can't take him off the 40 man unless he clears waivers (which he's more likely to do after the trade deadline if your league has a ton of waiver players then).

Just leave him on the 40 man.  Who cares if he has no options?  Once that guy makes the bigs, he'll stick.

I would go after him. It's always possible you might find someone better, but I would bet that odds say are better of you getting a lesser player or nothing than a better player.

You're 20 games into the season and you've already tranferred $20M payroll into IFA? Was this your plan all along when you did your budget, or did you just lose out on all the big $$ FA's in the pre-season?

I thought that was common.  As soon as budgeting is over, people dump millions into IFA because youre only allowed the 20 mil intially.  Then that leaves teams with a IFA budget twice as much as their payroll... and it makes it tough to get any quality IFA's.

People signed the better FA's with monster contracts. It was a new world and my team was pretty bad (28th OVR in ML talent)
