Why not just under the reports section in the wrold office have each teams 1-9 lineups and pitching staff spots? You wouldnt have to track innings, just let me view what you have your current lineup/pitching staff set to. Then it would be very easy to do.

A lot of teams have 3 or 4 guys who play outside of their regular listed position which makes it pretty hard to figure out whose their lineup.
Yes, instead of the pointless "franchise rankings," have something like that. I would be in big favor of that.

Whoa...I like the "status info" part of the franchise rankings. Cut out the overall rankings, sure.

Maybe not even that complex.   Just top 3-5 hitters and the next SP.    Maybe some team rankings.    You could put it in the next game box.
But something like this would be a good step. I can already see the next pitcher and his ERA. Adding a few more lines below that telling me who leads their team in OPS, Home Runs, Stolen Bases and + plays (for example) would be a nice little start.

Or maybe a "hottest hitter" that shows something like:
Bob Jones, 18 for 41, 5 HRs, 22 RBIs in last 10 games.

Little things that get you more familiar with my pretend opponents.
My suggestion was just for something simple.    If we want to know the "Pujols" of the world, we're only going to care about the top players.  I can see their entire team by opening up player stats.   Just a quick snapshot of the best players, with the ability to open up the player card(like you can the next SP) from the front page, and maybe some team rankings(to let me know if I want to dig further) would go a long way in making me more interested in the other teams.

Like you said, the team leaders.  BA, HR, SB.  Keep it simple.

There is a suggestions area

If you like baseball, you'll love HBD.  No way around it.

so is it really difficult to scout other teams and to look up stats or is everybody just lazy?
9/28/2010 9:41 PM
and im wondering how often trades happen with all this "i only know my organization" talk.
9/28/2010 9:42 PM
Everybody is lazy.   Click my name, click HBD and click one of my teams.  Everything is there for you to see.

By the way, calling everybody lazy will net you a lot of trade partners.

When you look for trades, you look for your needs, and the ratings of players on potential trade partners' teams.

When people say they only know their team, they mean they only know the names of the players on their team.

I think it's pretty easy to get a solid idea of who plays where. If I'm playing an important series, I'll pull up a few box scores from the team I'm playing and check the guys who started at each position. You can get an idea just from their average of what they are, and you can see where they are in the lineup.

It's not perfect and it does require a tiny bit of investigative work, but it's not hard to get a really good idea of who is who on a team.

I think the point of the thread was lost long ago.  The point of the suggestions also seems to be lost.   If you want to "scout" the other team, it's not that difficult.  If you want a snapshot of the other team's stars, there's an easier way to do it.  As 'motown said, if they weren't on my team, I seldom know the "stars" from my world beyond the MVP/CY candidates.
