Demands affected by awards? Topic

No, it really doesn't.   But, again, I'm not going to believe WifS has set up the game so that "pulling a Comiskey" would benefit an owner.    Or one where you'd never want a player to make the A/S team, win a GG, SS, CY or MVP.   Especially since we vote of CY, ROY and MVP.

Agreed, it does create a massive conflict of interest.  I have always voted for my own players in the past, but I am concerned that I am hurting my own team by doing so.

I vote for mine too but, if this somehow proves that awards increase demands, I'll start voting for my rival's players.   And do everything possible to keep my players out of the A/S game and off awards ballots.

Yep, me too.  Everyone will.

I don't think wilhitec is saying that it's the primary driver of performance - just that it's the primary driver of arb and FA demands.  If they don't use overall ratings, what do they use to generate the demands?
correct...primary driver of salary demands...of course we all know ARB increase drastically from year 1 to year 3 of ARB.

i thought this was a question asked in one of the earlier hbd development chats. but i'm not gonna go looking thru them all to find out for definite.

It was.   A long time ago.   IIRC, salary demands were ratings based.   Owners were complaining and WifS said they'd look into incorporating stats.   Not sure if they ever did.   I believe some owners have transferred that to awards too.    As I said earlier, if there's no advantage to be gained with awards(because there isn't), it makes no sense for a disadvantage, in terms of salary demands, to be in place.

So you'd tank, basically.

I don't play guys at less than 100%.   So, over the course of the year, they have to sit.  I'd sit them before the A/S break if they showed up on the ballot and at the end of the year for the same reason.   Assuming, of course, I didn't have to win those games.   Resting a player who can only give you 100% for 140 games isn't tanking.  It's called "resting your players so they will remain at 100%".

Resting your players so they will remain at 100% is one thing. Resting your players specifically to, as you put it, "do everything possible to keep my players out of the A/S game and off awards ballots" means purposely underachieving.

You seem to be having trouble with this.   My 140 game player has played 80 of 80.  His name shows up as an A/S.   I know I have to sit him 22 games at some point.  Why not 11 just before the break?
