The last update was supposed to address db pitchers by having them drag down their own defense.  If that's not leveling the playing field, maybe the defensive dampening needs to be bumped up a bit.

Join a progressive that doesn't have the years that Joss played....problem solved

There are plenty of easy ways to play in leagues that won't have a lot of Addie Joss and/or deadball pitchers.  Modern-era leagues, exclusive ownership leagues, progressives, blacklist leagues, teammate twist leagues, franchise leagues, etc.  If you never wanted to see Addie Joss on another team, I bet you could do it without much trouble.

Dynamic Pricing...redo salaries based on demand 2X a year. Problem solved. Let the owners determine players salaries...purely market driven.

A team called "Triple Joss" just won the most resent Champs league.

I put together an OL team with the the intention of beating Addie Joss.  Luckily for me, there are a lot of Josses in this league -- 11!  I chose an all-lefty lineup of no-power, high-average hitters and put them in Hilltop Park.  The idea was to peck Joss to death with singles, doubles and triples.

After 49 games, we've faced Joss 8 times.  2 of those were interleague games where I rested my starters (we lost both).  But we won the other 6 games.

Here are Joss' combined stats in those 6 starts (he was 100% every game):

W-L 0-4
38.2 IP
54 hits
16 ER
10 BB
8 SO
3.72 ERA
1.66 WHIP

Joss had only 1 "quality start" against my team, and would have won that game were it not for a closer blowing a save.

The scores of the games were 6-2, 10-2, 6-1, 4-2, 5-2 and 7-2.

Will update this as the season progresses...

FWIW, I went 96-66 and won my division in the recent Champs league, and this was after resting starters the last 15 games. Only 1 player ('75 Gary Carter) was on more than 2 other teams. 1972 Don Sutton was my pitching ace. He pitched 316 innings and went 28-6 2.33/.208/1.05. You CAN put up good teams without all the ubiquitous cookies. People just get lazy and use the same ol' standbys. If you can be creative and come up with a good team with unexpected players, you have the advantage - you know what's coming on their team, but they aren't prepared for yours.

I think I'll try this team again with a few tweaks and see if I can't do even better.
