I believe a couple worlds are just about to turn over?  So if anyone's thinking of dropping a low-prestige BCS school, sitemail away!

I took over Baylor in Smith after leaving Butler and have been having a hard time making any headway. I know I'm not up to par with alot of the hall of fame coaches around here, but I'd like to think of myself of not being a pushover either. I wanted to get to a big 6 school and took it. I realized the challenge and it's been as hard as I thought. The nice thing is you do get the extra recruiting money, but it's tough getting wins in conference. This will be my 4th year there and I'm hoping I can get into the postseason this year to get my prestige back up. I think it's been a little tougher due to me taking the job right when the update hit, but it would have been a challenge either way. If I don't get it turned around this year, I don't think I ever will. Maybe a better coach like jeffdrayer is what it takes.

It's not you, alock -- the Smith big 12 is no better than a mid-major right now; without any tourney money, it makes your job doubly hard.

Bump -- I'd still like to try this.  Anyone interested?

I think this is going to be my last season at UDM, so the next job cycle I'll just to a Big 6.  It just rolled over, though.

(LL316 in Phelam, by the way)

It's on.  Baylor in Rupp.

Truth is, since I proposed this I've watched a couple vets in Smith go through simiar experiences, trying to rebuild doormats in BCS conferences.  Still, I think this experiment is worthwhile, as many still contend DI has been ruined by the latest changes to recruits, and that rebuilding a BCS team remains nearly impossible.  For those interested in the outcome I'll start a separate thread updating my progress.  For those not interested, feel free to ignore!

Jeff, I truly hope your experiment fails, purely for selfish reasons, for, if it succeeds, it will confirm that I am, at best, a mediocre coach by your own words. I've been at Alabama in Tark for 6 seasons. We are as good as any other non-elite team in Tark, but no better...and that is not the level of success you are aiming for (me either for that matter...)

I'm trying this with Oklahoma St in Smith, as you know.  I'm the better part of two seasons in right now and we are still bad this year, but we aren't getting manhandled but 25+ anymore.  I'm hoping to sneak in to the PIT next year.  It's a slow process though.

Trying to rebuild The University of Virginia in Smith.   Only 1 season in but not seeing horrible results.  I think there is hope.  I also will love to follow your results.

It sure might -- just got a look at the local recruits... :-)
