Pulldown advice for new coaches Topic

Not always groomsie, and sometimes you just have to move on. I've spent more on phone calls to guys that I thought i'd have a chance at though. My philosophy is not for everyone.

Let me close the book on this subject. It was about D3 recruiting and pulling guys down. If I had 3 open schollies, i'd have 6 guys on my board. Three would be my wants and three would fill my needs. I would spend 360 on the first cycle. Three schollies and 6 phone calls. If my three schollies were left open then I have my guys. No wasted phone calls to anyone else. That was all I was saying and I would recommend that to anyone. Oh yeah that was a giant smiley!!!!...

A recruit can reject your scholarship offer when he's not considering you, and yet still be recruitable.

And you made the phone calls to all 6 players anyway. Only diff between what you do and what everyone else does is you throw an extra $100 for 3 of those players.

So at D3, in Day three of recruiting how much money do you have left ??? When you first started?

You mean on signing day before I have signed any players? I probably have only spent about 15-20% of my budget, with 14.5-19.5% of it going to FSS in my surrounding states. The other 0.5% (1 phone call to each prospective recruit) goes to phone calls.

No, I mean the very first time you recruited a player. What did you have left on Day 3?? Way back when you started not yesterday.

This is what a pulldown should look like:

I spoke with Todd Durazo and he told me straight up that we're a backup option if his top schools don't come through. Let's keep him on the 'maybe' list.

I'm not gonna bother responding to you anymore. If you can't see what I posted is a successful pulldown, then obviously you don't know how to pulldown. There's no point of me wasting more effort talking to you.

My point is how to recruit at D3 when you have no clue how to recruit at D3.

I just joined Baseball Dynasty... Can you tell me how that works??

I know you and everyone that has responded is intelligent. Dumb yourself down to your very first time that you recruited. Remember that? How many phone calls did you waste? How did you pull down players the very first time ? I know that you now know how to do it, there is no question of your success. I guess I just have a different way and cheaper way than you did when you started.

i don't understand your focus on what the right thing is to tell a guy who has literally never coached a game? pulldowns are NOT a tactic a guy who has never coached a game should be using. and besides, the point of giving advice to someone who asks a ? on the forum is to steer them in the right direction for what to do. why would you not take advantage of what you've learned since day 1? if all we did is told other people what we did on day 1, this would be a TERRIBLE place to come for information. i just don't get where you are coming from.

literally, nobody cares who was better on day 1, or who had a better strategy for something on their first day of recruiting. people want to know what the right thing to do is, now. not yesterday, not 5 years ago.
