How do I get away from my 20mill Adv Scouting? Topic

Everyone overvalues their prospects, just like in real life.

Ain't that the truth...in real life just about every trade the team's fans who gave up the prospects screams bloody murder.

Just out of curiousity...for guys who go with 0 ADV, do you ever find you get burned by trading a way a prospect who ends up developing much better than you'd anticipated?  And with the inaccuracy that comes with a low ADV budget, is there any point in having an ADV budget between 1-10?

I don't get burned because I rarely deal prospects.  My only prospects come from the draft and IFA...and I know how much I am willing to spend on a decent IFA.  As far as the draft, I know my 28th pick that is projected to 85 isn't really that good.

Once I trade a player, I quit following his progress.    That said, I doubt I get burned because I trust my drafting/signing skills.

So in regards to the second question above - I see a lot of guys with 2, 4, 6 or 8 in their ADV scouting budgets.  That seems kind of pointless to me if there's room for such potential variance in projections.

Some people like to keep a little something in case something changes.   If WifS made a big change wrt ADV, the 0 ADV guys are screwed for 4-5 seasons.

If you have 0 in ADV, are there any projections at all?  Or are they all "?".

From the sounds of it, they just match the current ratings

There are projections.  Some look reasonable, some look ridiculous.   They don't match current nor are they question marks.

Stm, con, VL, VR projections I see
70 74 21 23

I don't think they're far off.

But the pitches look unattainable
71 70 51 28 22

I don't think he gets near those(excluding the one he's already reached).

The reason I asked about the "?"'s is that I've always mistakenly thought that with 0, there were no projections at all.  I've always kept 1 in ADV just to have the numbers.  That money could have helped a lot in one of the recent seasons.  Thanks for the clarification.

With my 1 scouting, his ST/CTL/VL/VR is 76/88/21/21.  I don't see him getting anywhere near 80 control.

His pitches look more reasonable:

58/53/33/39/20

His 4th pitch would have a long way to go.

What this tells me is that 0 is just as good as 1.

FWIW, this guys is one of many training camp pitchers I use to keep my staffs fresh.

I'm screwed if they ever change the ADV effect (which I actually think is a good idea).

Yeah, I think anything less than 8-10 is a waste.  I experimented and tracked a lot of ADV/projections before I decided to go with 0.

By the way, I picked a nobody because sharing projections, no matter how skewed the numbers are, is bad form.
