Good splits but low ind pitch ratings Topic

Not everyone tries in the minors. Some people think its the trendy, cool guy thing to ignore the minors, run your propsects into the ground and finish up 7-134. The dimensions of your Aaa stadium may also make him appear better or worse than he really is.

You didn't mean to say dimensions, did you ersberg? I may be a nOOb in HBD, but in SIM the park's physical dimensions mean nothing. It's basically the same game engine with a few twists. It's all about the park factors - I assume that's what you meant.

On a lark, I put this to the test and built a SIM team to leverage the vast dimensions of the biggest park I could find. I learned that my team did far better in the Astrodome than it did in my home park.

Interesting comments travisg! "To elaborate on tecwrg's points on velocity, I think this guy could consistently ring up league average performance or slightly better. I've found that great velocity (80+) can overcome below-average stuff OR control – but not both, unless the pitcher has outstanding splits, which this guy does not."

I just happen to be in a position to check this out with my AAA team.

So I'll see how it goes. But your thinking might explain Stan Lee's mysteriously high Projected OVR of 79. His projected pitching ratings are:
74 83 57 37 89 100 100 68 71 67 0
The Vel, GB, and 1st P ratings may explain that OVR...because his splits sure don't! He's in a major Pitcher's park,
4 -3 -3 -4 -4
so his performance will have to be compared to the other pitchers, and not considered on their own.

I think Lee's vsR will prevent him from ever being a useful ML pitcher, unfortunately, even with those outstanding ratings in other areas.
