I'm definitely interested. I tried something similar a few months ago and couldn't quite get enough owners to make it a go. Just a suggestion...so that you don't have to start straying from the theme, why not start with the '68-'69 season (more players to choose from) and stick with whatever combination of 24 NBA and ABA franchises that everyone selects for the duration of the league? Start with actual rosters of those 24 teams from the end of the '67-'68 season, then have both a dispersal draft and rookie draft in reverse order of winning percentage from the '67-'68 season. I'd definitely be interested in something like that. I'm not that interested in a league that involves inserting fabricated rookies and/or 1950's players.

I'm not quite following your suggestion. There's only 23 teams in 1967-68 (increased to 25 in 68-69). If we are drafting teams, there would only be 23 teams ? Also, how would a dispersal draft work?

We could start with the 69-70 season using rosters from the end of 68-69. That gets away a little bit from the birth of the ABA theme but I wouldn't object if that would increase the attractiveness of the theme. Comments kilgore ?

I, too have pondered this type of theme, but since leagues cannot be crated with less than 24 teams (yet, hopefully), why not try this theme (to go over, no doubt, like a lead ballon)

instead of progressing one season at a time, progress two seasons at a time-one of the best baseball progressives I've been in is the Beer League, which does this-you simply use which of a players two seasons you prefer from the league's specific season

this has a couple of positives (in my opinion), and one negative which bothers a lot of people

Positives-
1. creates a bigger database of players to choose from, limiting non-season players (i.e. 50's guys)
2. Limits dynasty's, especially in the NBA, as progressing 2 seasons at a time runs through a guys career faster-since basketball success is more concentrated on star players, this creates more balance

Negatives-
1. people are offended by progressing 2 season at a time-"purists" don't like it, and isn't as realistic

Just my two cents

This idea appeals to me. I am running a successful double season progressive in Sim League Baseball.

In addition to the 2 positives listed above, the league would run through 44 NBA seasons in just 22 WIS seasons. While it is not as realistic, it is more realistic than leagues which include star players from different era's.

I have amended the league rules to reflect this change and we'll see if this has any appeal

Please let me know if my understanding is correct:
1-Each owner will draft 12 players from the 67/68 & 68/69 seasons. There will be no rookies or 50s players.
2-If a player drafted played in both seasons, the owner chooses which one he wants to use. If the player only played in one of the seasons (67/68 or 68/69) then the owner must use that season.
3-In our second season, when we draft from 69/70 & 70/71, the statement from #2 above applies to our “kept” players and the new draftees.
4-The order for the initial draft will be randomly set.
5-There is no salary cap.
A couple of other questions:
-What are the requirements/restrictions  for “keeping” players at the end of each year? Which leads to the question of how many draft picks each year.
-I don’t know if it happens in basketball, but in baseball, some of the players missed a season. How will this be handled? IR?
