Was so sure I'd get Mourning I actually can't express in words how annoyed I am.... ok actually I can and did.

The point is the 48 blacklisted players are several Defensive All-Star Teams worth of talent. I had visions of 2 90+ defenders on the front court. Oh well....

Switched gears completely with an offensive theme, hopefully I can put together a very offensive team.

Okay sly this is looks promising. But the changes to what we are doing begin in round 2 so in order to make the best draft plans we all need to come to an agreement ASAP. I'm looking at the 2nd pick in round 2 and the 2nd pick in round 4 as things stand now. But if we change to this plan I'm looking at the 4th pick in round 2 and the 7th pick in round 4 which completely changes my current draft plans.
5/29/2011 11:03 PM
Well, sorry to be a dick, but the draft order already changed once well after sign ups. I appreciate everyone trying to make things fair and find a way to make everyone happy, but If it's going to change again even now that the draft has actually started, I'm just going to bail.
5/29/2011 11:09 PM
After thinking about it some more you are right bargearse. Let's just take what we have got and roll with it. If the draft slows to crawl, or if we get owners bailing out, that will basically ruin one of the best leagues going.
5/29/2011 11:25 PM
Does it really matter all that much? A few draft slots here or there? Already there's 2 guys left in the C round that could have easily gone #1 with out many jeers and another 2 or 3 that could have easily gone top 5. Ecspecially in the later rounds so many people draft for needs and not necessarily the best player available, quality players get over looked.  How many of us would have drafted Ewing #1? Not me. Not saying it was a bad pick, but if Mutombo or Mourning who were just picked had gone #1 would anyone of cried foul? Personally, im not one to complain, but changing draft orders after draft slots have been selected is pretty week. When draft slots were choosen based on the "snake draft" assumption. Right now I have no idea where I'll pick in the later rounds, but I know this, a few slots one direction or another isn't going to make any difference. seriously.

let me say two things

i like sly's deal now that I get it (your problem was foggy nomenclature) - not bad

BUT (and it's a big one)

when I took 22 what that meant to me was a feast or famine pattern of top of the round or bottom which I could live with strategically speaking and the other choice I could have made was 12 = 11 guys ahead of me and 12 after in each round so never great but never horrendous (or I go the other way and get the extremes)

and sometime while I wasnt looking (or not notici-ing) all this nonsense got thrown in and now everyone wants the extremes but (and why did we bother pre-drafting draft slots if there was no strategic advantage in the process?)

here's what - round 6 aint no good for no one to be at the top of it
and
not all rounds are equal because we bl'd more out of certain positions than others

so

good luck with any of this stuff ever looking equal

finally

take the ****, pinch it off, wipe it

and let me know when I need to draft

because my overall strategy depends on when I have a shot at what so

figure it out pronto and quit equivocating

I like Sly's idea for the draft. Makes perfect sense to me.
5/30/2011 2:49 AM
I took a fat dumpity dump earlier. I guess I could have spelled things out a bit clearer originally.

I do get the whole idea of wanting to be at the top of a couple rounds while getting shafted in a couple others. I'd certainly have taken one of those slots had they been available when I joined.

Your statement about not choosing 12 because you'd get middle of the road makes no sense as that slot gets a couple of top 2 or 3 picks since it's not a straight snake.

Regardless, I am good with the draft as is (as previously stated) and was merely pointing out a different way to approach the draft.

Nobody is waffling. Everyone is still in.

So

Happy drafting.

5/30/2011 3:25 AM
when this was still a straight snake (and like I said I missed when that stopped being the case) my statement re picking 12 made perfect sense
5/30/2011 6:22 AM
all good stuff. i'm gonna stick to what we have now. it ain't perfect, but it's not bad either. if we ever do this leaqgue again, i'm gonna use sly's draft formula. i was trying to figure out a good one before. it's a tough go, but i do like sly's effort on that, and i do side with bargearse, let's keep things on an even keel. i'll personally make up for dh555's slight shafting in another way. and felonius's post about screwed here, and there made me laugh. all good stuff. thanks for the commentary.

on another note, bluenote (no pun intended) is the 3rd pwner now with two teams, he drafts 16th. nice pace with the draft so far
5/30/2011 7:01 AM
"i'll personally make up for dh555's slight shafting in another way"

no need scud....unless you were planning on sending me some asian love slaves...id be cool with that haha
5/30/2011 12:20 PM
lol... if that's want you want. i'll go shopping in the morning. love slaves. cheaper by the dozen.
5/30/2011 12:31 PM
Nice value picks with Mutombo and Unseld.  They were in my top 3.
