So with 2 separate leagues the conference championship becomes the superbowl for each conference and the championship game is superfluous?

Do the leagues combine in the 60's? As in duplicate players not continued in future drafts?

Are we keeping with actual cities/stadiums/moves to mirror historical?

Is there a time limit to how long a franchise can hold onto D/ST/OL ?

I would like Boston Yanks at Fenway if that puts me in huskers division. I may volunteer for an AFC team later if we get bogged down.

-Yes, the conference championship will basically be the Super Bowl for that league. The actual Super Bowl will be for bragging rights plus the prize from Admin. Here's what I'll do for the Super Bowl loser each season. Since you techinally won your own Super Bowl but lost in the "fake" Super Bowl, I'll donate my finders fee to you. This way you still get something for winning your Conference. If Admin does like I've heard for Baseball, where they donate prizes to a league every 5 seasons if the league retains half it's owners, they'll probably get a little piece of that. I'll come up with some sort of point system to divide that money out.

-I wasn't planning on having the leagues combine at any moment of this league. My plan is to have it stay two seperate leagues for the duration. If it gets to be too much of an All-Star league when we start getting into the better seasons, we can explore changing things up.

-I'd like to keep with actual cities/stadiums/moves. I know that won't be possible with all the available stadiums for this season. I'll probably leave it up to that owner if they want to or not. No stadium factor like in Baseball that I know of so I'm not going to make it a diffenate rule.

-I wasn't planning on having a time limit for D/OL/ST being kept. I can see how frustrating that may get to some if the same dominate D is winning every season. I'm not going to have a limit, but again like the combining leagues, we can explore that option if it becomes an issue.

Sence I'm taking the Colts , do I play them as the Miami Seahawks in '46 and then move them to Baltimore in '47 and then Dallas in '51/'52 and back to Baltimore in '53 or do I leave them in Baltimore all the time?

You're welcome to leave them in Baltimore if you'd like.

I have another question. Back in the day players used to play more than one position (i.e. offensive skill position and kicker/punter) if we draft a player at say QB or RB do we have him for all positions he played or do we have to draft him again for another spot. It seems to me if we draft him he should be ours for however we want to use him if he plays multiple positions that are on the board.

On another note, I sure hope this league catches on cause it starts the year after I was born so it will span my whole life if we make it that far. Not positive but it should take about 3+ years to play up to date.

As of now players that appear at more than one position will be able to be drafted twice. For example, someone could draft QB Sammy Baugh and another owner could draft P Sammy Baugh. My thinking is allowing multi position players to be owned by one owner may deplete the Kicker/Punter draft pool. I'm willing to change things up though and open to suggestions. Also, it's possible for one owner to draft both Baughs. I drafted a team in an open league and it will allow you to have the same player season on a team as long as it's a different position.

It's no major problem, it's just my feeling that if you draft a player he should be yours to play at all of his positions. As I said I'll go either way, just wanted to get a ruling on it.

It would be easier and a lot more realistic if their specialty skills went with their day jobs....that's part of the reason why Baugh/Waterfield/Van Brocklin/Doak Walker etc. were considered Hall of Fame caliber players....

....there will need to be a rule about extra players, or scrub players because when we get to the '50s. when there are only 12 NFL teams, some don't get kickers in the SIM,  none will have 3 tight ends to offer, and a good number of the 'subs' are actually defensive ends who didn't catch a pass and probably didn't actually play on offense.

But I'm excited, its an era that no one plays as a progressive, and the versatility of the stars is a big part of the flavor of the era

My sentiments exactly, not only the players mentined above, but even into the 50s' & 60s' it was always neat to see players like Horning, Blanda, Donny Anderson,Gino Cappaletti and several other have a prolonged drive, score a TD and then come onto the field and kick an extra point or hit a "coffin corner" punt. It was just part of the game and if you were fortunate enough to have a player like these on your team you used them every way you could.

Like I said I grew up in the 50s' and 60s' and am so anxious to be able to use these years in a progressive league, it's truly a great idea.

BTW, I checked and there are 17 kickers and 27 punters in '46 so there will be plenty to go around for the draft even if we are allowed to draft a player at a  position and are allowed to also use him as a kicker and/or punter.

What the hell, I really want this league to get off the ground. Give me a 2nd Team and make it Miami (which I will probably move to Baltimore in '47) in the AFC.

Husker, first off thanks for taking a 2nd team. As for the one version of each player, even those that played multiple positions. I've been giving it more thought and I agree with you and gwhouse. I'll update the rules to reflect that players that played multiple positions will be drafted only once and can be used at positions eligible at. It'll also give those players the added value in the draft they seem to deserve.
