I don't see how that's an issue.

16           Kevin Garnett    B+  I like Garnett’s numbers quite a bit; he really fills the stat sheet and, if necessary, he can do it from the SF position for you.  Definitely a player I hope is around late first round.

yea...wade and oscar were both better choices but im a big kg fan(more minnesota then boston) and havent showed him any love lately

if necessary?...damn straight im playing him at the 3....hes almost rodman-like at giving you an advantage on the boards

early impressions for teams with 2 players...

scudmissle - David Robinson, Shawn Marion

The Admiral is one of my favorite players to build around... good paint scoring, great at getting to the line, good boards for someone with his offensive efficiency, great efg%, decent tov%, great defense.  The Matrix is a nice compliment at the 3... defense, efficiency, some 3s, good boards for the position.  Nice synergy thus far.

robocoach - Chris Paul, Kevin Love

I'm never a fan of cp3 this early, yet he gives you some great stuff.  I just wish you could combine his rebounds, 3s & FTAs from his 09 season with the rest of his 08 season... neither season to me stands out as a top 5 sim PG season, yet if they were combined... good stuff.  But they aren't.  I really like the combination of him with Love, however.  They will feed off of each other quite well:  both are tier 3 scorers; both give you some threes; both rebound well for their positions (Love is almost unequaled).  I don't see Love's lack of defense being a major issue.  Great start with a lot of room to go many different directions with the rest of your picks.

bluenote75 - Magic Johnson, Dirk Nowitzki

I've always been a fan of Magic... Though I'm not a fan of Dirk.  Usually I think you need Rodman or Moses to make Dirk work well.  Maybe Magic's offensive rebounding will make up for the lack of Dirk on the boards.  I love the offense these two bring individually, but I'm not sold on playing the two together.

sixernuggets - Dikembe Mutombo, Chauncey Billups

I felt like Mutombo went early, yet you got Billups later than he should have gone.  Billups is the best non-rebounding PG (Lebron, Wade, Magic, Oscar, Kidd) in the sim.  Nobody at any position gives you the combination of 3s with FTAs that he does... and then he really helps in the possession war by not turning the ball over much yet giving you a ton of assists.  There are several versions that are useful in the sim, too.  Ben Wallace does everything better than Mutombo except fg%, which shouldn't be a big factor with a tier-5 or 6 scorer.

dh555-(2) - Kevin Garnet, Julius Erving

My, oh my, how you are going to beast on the boards!  Never cared for KG's offensive game (except his 07-08 season, which you are clearly NOT going to use since you want to play him at the 3).  Also don't like Dr. J's offensive game (unless you have tons of threes at other positions).  But possession wise, this is some legit scary ****.

theyard2 - Bill Russell, Tim Duncan

15 rings between them.  Too bad that doesn't count for anything in the sim.  I like both picks... Just not where you got one of them.  I like Big Ben over Russell, but the more I think about it... it's not as black & white as that.  The big difference for me is Russell's usage + efg% hurts worse than Wallace's, though I do like the extra 700 minutes you get out of Russ.  Duncan (assuming you use the one that I'd use) is a slam dunk of a 2nd round pick.  If you use the wrong one, though, I feel about him about like I feel about the Dream - not near as good in the sim as he is IRL.

ashamael - Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen

Mailman:  best tier 1 scorer left at the time & best tier paint scorer left at the time.  All of the people that should have gone ahead of him in both cats did (Wilt, Lebron, MJ for the first; Wilt, Moses, Howard, Barkley, Shaq, Kareem & Admiral for second).  I've had great success using various versions of Malone before - he gives me everything I want in a first round pick:  efg%, monster getting to the line, high enough usage so that I'm not restricted as to how I build the rest of my team.  Pippen was the perfect compliment:  great boards for a 2, 3rd tier usage, 53% efg%, 150+ 3pm, good defense & assists.

eleibowitz - Ben Wallace, Kevin Durant

Big Ben is a dynamite board-lord and defensive stopper.  Love the pick, especially since you could get such a great offensive player in rd2.  Too bad Durant falls just short of being a tier 1 scorer and is only 99% SG... still, his 09-10 season is amazing and is something I still want to try using sometime.

malone9975 - Kobe Bryant, Kevin McHale

I like this.  You've got Kobe shooting you out of some games while McHale will be super consistent.  Kobe's rebounding should help offset some of McHale's lack thereof, especially if you play the latter at the 3.

tarheel1991 - Jason Kidd, Elton Brand

Kidd is an A+ pick.  Absolutely the best non-scoring PG in the sim.  Brand is a super solid pick at the 3, giving you board advantage at two positions that often don't see it.  Absolutely love this team thus far.

captainzen - Mel Daniels, John Stockton

Seems early for Daniels, but he's a solid big man that gives you lots of the stuff you need.  Stockton (especially his 94-95 season) is amazing, but right now I look at this team and wonder who Stockton is going to be passing to.  You've got two tier 4 scorers, so who's going to step up and score the ball?

jcred5 - Oscar Robertson, Hakeem Olajuwon

Love the Big O, h8 the Dream.  I still feel like the Dream is a late 2/early 3 at best.  I think Duncan would have been a much better fit here (the possessions he steals away from Big O will be better possessions.  As it is, the Dream will be taking the majority of possessions while he's on the floor, and I'm not crazy about his offensive game in the sim).

Booby Jones, Elton Brand.......  I just love seeing frontcourt guys drafted that I was the 1st to draft in the ODL.
11/20/2011 10:54 AM
Hate to tell you... They were drafted long before you ever came along...
11/20/2011 4:19 PM
Well, since I have been in the ODL. BTW, you totally ripped Brand when I picked him. Come to think of it, I feel altogether better when you are not praising my picks........
11/20/2011 6:47 PM
It's relative to many things (who you already have, the time you get the player, who else was available, the sim-meta {which has changed greatly in the last year}).  Bobby Jones was never this early a pick, but the changes to his defense (or, more likely, the changes to everyone else's defense) have made him a much higher pick.  Brand being 100% SF when so many like him aren't makes him a much better pick now.
11/20/2011 7:47 PM
robo...you will forever be known for j******  as far as im concerned haha
11/20/2011 7:48 PM
banditone - Artis Gilmore, Gary Payton

Thought you took A-Train early, but you got a good deal in where you got the Glove.  Not a huge fan of him, yet he's very effective in the sim... especially in the playoffs.  He just seems to explode in the playoffs for some reason.

tricky24 - Dwight Howard, Robert Parish

I love this combination for so many reasons... yet I loved it before and it didn't do well in the hands of a great owner.  We'll see if it fairs you any better.

ncih - Shaquille O'Neal, Ray Allen

Almost the best paint/perimeter combo you can get in 2 players.  Actually, it might be the best.  Need serious help on boards, but yeah, you've got the inside out thing goin' on!

dh555 - LeBron James, Jerry Lucas

Perfect compliment to the King and good time to pick him up.  He's usually an early 2nd rounder, not a mid/late one.

badja - Charles Barkley, Shawn Kemp

Well, you'll foul the crap out of somebody... but I like your paint presence and your board hoarding ability.  Oh, and the efg% is great.  Love this but am wondering how you're going to balance things out.  Lots of opportunities out there to do so still.

appleseed1 - Michael Jordan, Donyell Marshall

You have to love Marshall here.  He's the perfect compliment to just about anybody, yet pairing him with His Airness is a superb start.  I love this team.

mikee1 - Larry Bird, Paul Pierce

There's so much awesome right here in these two guys that my mind wants to explode.

98average - Dwayne Wade, Bobby Jones

I think it was early for Jones, but not too terribly early considering how late you actually picked.  2 100 defense players thus far?  Nice.  Jones' high efg% is a nice compliment, too, for Wade's so-so efg%.  With Wade you've got all of your usage covered, so you have so much flexibility from here on out.

I doubt any of us has the money, time, or longevity to do 100 teams just to get a large sample group of how a particular player does. But we do get predjudiced by our experiences. Within the framework of the games we play, we all have good experiences with some players and bad with others.  for instance, I have never done well with Gary Payton  and always done well with Big O,....... for all of about 3 teams each.  Since they are both expensive propositions that sticks in your mind; although over 100 games I am logically sure it would average out, but in my heart I'd go with Robertson every time.
11/20/2011 8:43 PM
The Big O is definitely better in most situations sim-wise than the Glove.  I won a 'ship I shouldn't have with Oscar.  I've lost several that I should have b/c of Glove.
11/20/2011 8:54 PM
sappy - Wilt Chamberlain, Tracy McGrady

it's a crime that tmac fell like he did.  This is probably the best partner for Wilt I've seen in any draft league... Don't screw up your forwards and this is easily the league favorite.

ljemd - Dennis Rodman, Marcus Camby

Hi, board superiority.
11/20/2011 10:43 PM
Everybody always seems to be agonizing about a particular player. My problem is that there are always severel people I want when my pick comes up, and I really hate passing on them for some other manager to take.
