Credit? sure.

But when you purposefully put it out there on the forum thread be ready for some rocks to be thrown.   SOrry you dont see it that way.  Well actually not sorry. But you are also entitled to your opinion.
thats exactly the kind of attitude that ruined these forums.

so many vets sit up here on their high horses and think if a newer coach says something that doesn't pass their approval test, they should put them down. that is a terrible way to foster the new generation of coaches becoming the next generation of old coaches. it happens all the time. these forums are here so people can come and ask stuff, throw things out there, and get some feedback. not so you can pass judgement. this is exactly the kind of stuff that keeps coaches off these forums. and im sure my response to you isn't helping either.

the bottom line really is, nice job my_kids, don't listen to these kind of crappy remarks.
i tend to agree that there's too much forum bashing. that being said, my_kids is either (a) looking for kudos for winning a nc with sub talent (see, eg, 'has anyone ever done what i just did - win a nc w/o stars?'), despite that his team was loaded; or (b) he's completely clueless and can't even appreciate how loaded the team he just successfully coached to a nc really is!

i won't take anything away from a guy who can coach a team to the big dance and win it all which in and of itself is a huge accomplishment, but when you open the door, you're inviting in the response.

Salem International...Crum.

We didnt even have a player to make 2nd Team All conference. We did have one player make Conference DPOY. Wonder how many times that happens.

This entire conversation is stupid. I'm 100% with Gil on this one. A National Championship is a National Championship and so what if he wants to come here and give himself some props.  In real basketball its not common to win a title without AAs and he clearly hasnt been playing this game long enough to realize that in HD its a common thing.  Do people really need to rip his accomplishment apart to feel better about their own resumes?

I have just never seen that happen. Call it what you want. Other coaches probably would have won 2 NT's with that team. Glad I had the opportunity to coach them. Never could have done it without the recruiting of brycehull. Probably a much better recruiter than I am. I am good with all that. People can say whatever. I just put it out there because I just wondered if its common for teams to win an NT without a player making 1st team All-Conference. The team was loaded. Thats beside the point.

So back to the original point. Has anyone seen this happen?

happens more often than you think, especially when alot of coaches do not use very skewed distro scheme.

I try to give 110% coach.

It's not terribly uncommon -- just need a team with a big group of strong upperclassmen and balanced distro.

Caution:  Shameless plug ahead.....

It happened in Season 42 in Crum in your old conference mykids

This team was definitely pretty balanced.

Back then, Salem was coached by none other than bryhull....not sure who this brycehull person is you speak of  ;)

I think that is what I learned the most from this team. Season 48 I tried to lean my distribution to players who were guarded by weak defenders. Season 49 I slightly moved distribution each game to the players that performed better.
