rockaway - you can use guys that played before 1900 - the catch is that the season you use for them has to be after 1900. 

For example, Hugh Duffy's been used, but the owner couldn't use his huge year from 1894 - they had to use his mediocre half-season from 1901. But all of his teammates were from before 1900. This is a legal scenario.

mamxet's Bones Ely is from 1901, so he's good.
