Just the signers of the declaration are 56 people, then you add in the presidents thats a nice long list of names.  Then if you look up you can add the names of v ice presidents and double that number. . .   You can still get plenty of names out of it.

Course, if you use first names, there are gonna be several repeats, so that'll narrow the list a bit.  Still, I would think that there would be enough to choose from.  Might not be the best players, but there should be enough to at least field a team fairly easily.

Many, many seasons ago a coach in DIII recruited only players below 400 overall rating to show that cores mattered more than overall rating.  You could do the same thing in DII but up the overall to 450 or so.

I'm frequently tempted to grab the worst winning percentage team or find a team that has never been the NT and try to get them into the tournament.

LOL - That would probably be really tough. It's hard enough limiting to just Bible names. I think I recruited two Johns and 2 James this time. I picked Liberty because it's a large Christian University (started by Jerry Falwell). By the way, I am Chapelhillne in all other worlds except  Rupp.

I've always thought that was the coolest idea!

1) Do you just use the Christian Bible?  I know there's a Book of Joel in the Hebrew Bible.

2) Does spelling count? Would you accept a Steven for Stephen?

3) Do you accept other words from the Bible..... Cross, King, Masters, etc.

4) What about Biblical occupations?   Miller, Baker, Butler, Cook, Fisher, Hunter, Carpenter, Smith, Potter, Mason, Sheppard (spelling)?

Joel is in the Christian Bible too. Books such as Judith and Tobit are only in the Catholic Bible, (and the Maccabees). Do you use those?

Thanks - it has been fun.

1. I only have the Christian Bible, and I sometimes will go back to the glossary and check to be sure I am not missing someone. I should go find a Catholic Bible :).

2. Spelling does count, so Steven or Steve would not qualify. Tim would not count, but Timothy does.

3 & 4. When I had the team in D3 I didn't accept any words from the Bible, just names, but there was a player that my assistant recruited the first year whose name was Victor, and I kept him on the team. At Liberty, I had a guy with the last name Christian on my watch list and there was one with the name Christman, but I am going to stay pretty stringent - otherwise it's hard to know where to draw the line. I had two Angels on my watch list too. I searched within 400 miles of Liberty, and there were around 80 D1 players I think with names that qualified. Some of them were not worth recruiting though. I ended up with Stephen Holyfield (just noticed the "holy" as I was typing this), Paul Forbes, Michael Dukes, James Aucoin, Paul Johnson, and James Moss. So we had two Pauls and two James in our first recruiting class.
