Jeff, for the Progressive/Regressive, I assume that a player who whose next or previous eligible season is more than one calendar year up or down -- e.g. has eligile WIS seasons in, say, 1980 and then next in 1982 -- is still ok to draft? If we advance, we just move him to the next available season, even if it is more than a season away.

Yes, correct.  (question/answer also posted on page 1)

I also will assume that we all have to make sure that the missing season isn't due to the player not showing up in the search for some other reason (playing a different position and/or possibly being a pitcher/batter switch).  If that was the case I would assume you couldn't select the other season and be forced to use the season in between.

In the above example, if you selected the 1980 season for round 1 with the intention of picking the 1982 season but for the 1981 season say that player had a WIS eligble season at a different position, then you can't pick the 1982 season.

Yes, the easiest way to check a hitter is to search for a hitter in the UTIL slot (not a positional slot)... then click on the player to see all his seasons in order.  This wouldn't work for hitter/pitcher combos... I'll probably just create a list of those players, since there aren't that many of them.

Can you use two partials from the same year for two different roster slots?

No.  The Team Center doesn't allow this.

I assume for the 80 mil theme that if a player's next season is with a different team, that is still cool?

Yes... team is irrelevant

It's crazy the number of guys who played every position but SS. That seems to be the hardest one to combine with other positions, at least as I've discovered so far. It's worse than C.

This seems obvious, but I'll ask anyway just to be sure.

For the $100mil league, do all 5 individual teams have to be under .500 as well, or do individual team records not matter, provided the sum is under .500?

The individual team records do not matter.  The sum must be .500 or less.

I've put a first instinct team for each of the categories.... And a few of these are going to be tough.
  • 70 mill:  I never know how to proportion the $ between offense & defense.  Add in the fact the deadball pitchers are gone at a "good" price and I'm struggling.
  • 80 mill:  This one just takes a while to do.  Having a hard time keeping the second team just under 80 million.  200 K guys also tough to find
  • 90 mill:  I feel like I've made a good team, then I think how would this team do in an OL, and I'm pretty sure the answer is .500% at best
  • 100 mil: This one I've had the most trouble with.  I've made two good teams, but am missing a SS w/ one, and a C w/ the other.
  • 110 mill:  I've never had trouble using high ip pitchers, so it is just a thought of what to do with the offense and park
  • 120 mill: The dreaded clone league.  Why can't their be 1 good player who played C and middle IF?  I'm concerned there are going to be 23 Babe Ruth Teams then mine.

I'm struggling with the clone league the most. I don't see any way you can possibly make an offense with 2 players (let alone 1), unless you're using a scrub super utility guy. If someone makes a team with less than 4 players, without tanking a position, I will be very impressed.

So far, my biggest challenge has been pinching pennies on filling out rotations without the help of AAA. I usually aim for that 1200 mark. In the theme leagues I play there's usually decent money left to blow a few million on those last 200-300 filler innings.

But I've really been struggling with pushing the money limits at those lower caps. Especially since I'm not great at utilizing the strategy of fewer IP in pitcher parks. Wish that wasn't part of the game as it's just not fun thinking I should try for a Safeco park just to save money.

Clone league hasn't been too crazy for me. I'm pretty happy taking the pay cut. At such a high cap, I'm finding the $5 million penalty is worth the ability to more efficiently round out the roster.
Edit: Expanding on Jtosops point, it's a pretty high cap level. There's plenty of guys in the $4 million salary range who played all over the diamond. But at $6 mil+, just not many HOFers who switched positions more than once or twice.
