much as one would do in college or high school or rec league coaching, preparation is an important part of success.  Read the player guide and the FAQ.  Read the forums - take it with a grain of salt, but a lot of good advice is here.

some elements of the game are not like real life, but some are - if you change systems before your kids have learned the new offense you get crushed....if you dont practice key skills they erode....

as most good coaches impart to their players, a key part of competition is taking ownership of your results - consider the possibility that you are just starting and made some mistakes rather than blaming the game or the refs

Happy to see your initial frustration was just frustration and not hard headedness. This is a great game, but like all things in life, it has a learning curve. But as you can see, there is always plenty of help and great information available if you just look around and ask. Make sure you get a good grasp of recruiting for your huge class coming up after this season, bring in some good talent, and I'll be seeing you climbing towards the top in Crum in no time. Do you just show up to games and expect to win when you coach IRL? No. You probably shouldn't just jump into this game expecting to win without doing some research. All the information needed to succeed is on the forums.

did u notice ur last game against superior , u were up 3 points with 8 minutes left and ur players were dead tired and superior was fresh.   keep rotating those players, especialy with an uptempo offense u should be playing a fairly fresh rotation for ur players.  add u rotated more players, that would have been a win.  plus those point guards are good, they just cant that fast of a pace in an offense they dont know.
