Hey,
If you won a WS after signing PIcasso then you got your money's worth. Way to go. Wish I made moves like that.
I traded two future #2/3 starter types, both nice, and a future .400 OBP/27 HR 1B-guy for a inning eating 24-year old #2 starter (
Footsie) and one year of a mashing 1B/RF (
Merv) because I thought it might move me into a WS position. I'm now 40-33, having lost 12 of my last 17. It doesn't seem to be working. I admire your successful move.
What is your biggest weakness? Fix that with Simon. You have great starters in Rosales (WOW), Xavier (WOW), Ramsey, Estella and Mondesi. So you aren't weak there. (is the Tandem deal with Rosales and Xavier only for ST?)
Handworth throws tons of valuable innings out of the pen.
So you have no real weakness there. But it doesn't look like you have any young aces coming up. I'll bet you can get a great young starter for him, and another usable piece, too. Maybe a very nice current BP guy.
But Cedeno is a great offensive threat, but not a defender at C. I play a .307-.385-.480 hitting catcher, with a PC of 51, so I understand all about offense at that position.
Clayton
But you can move Cedeno to DH, as Brooks is done-done after this year. There you go, then. Trade Simon for a young ace, AAA maybe--a Top 10 type, and a great defensive catcher with some bat. I'll bet you can get that, easily.
